Just watching this programme on sky living.
A lady who is following Slimming World has gone from 41 stone to 37. She turnt down a gastric band operation.
She has decided to slim for her wedding.
Inspiring to see people using slimming world but also horrible to see some of the other things people are eating within this programme. such as the mum feeding her kids mcdonalds 3 times a day as well as the language coming from their mouths =[

Theres a guy who goes to my group but at a diff time who has lost 20st altogether so far. He lost 5st by himself before joining as he was told he needed to lose weight before he could get a gastric band/bypass. He found it so easy to do he told them he doesnt need the op and can lose it all himself! I think he is amazing! He loses a st a month and isnt slowing down!

I have just watched this programme and couldnt believe the mother who gave her kids junk food for 3 square meals a day and they really enjoyed the pasta that was made for them by their dad yet she didn't want them to have fresh food WTF!!!!

People like that mum feeding her kids McDonalds make me so angry. Just because her children aren't physically overweight, it doesn't mean that they are healthy. It's incredibly selfish to be like that.

I just don't understand some people. Its probably laziness and that they cant be bothered to cook because it requires effort!

I didn't see it either, stuff like that makes me mad too. We know how knackered and rubbish eating junk food makes you feel, never mind the weight issues. So the poor kids don't stand a chance as they get older! If the dad offered to cook and she said no, WHY???

I remember my cousin telling me she 'had' to feed her toddler junk food because she wouldn't eat anything else. When they came over I made us all some little potato patties with baked beans and a little grated cheese in each. We ALL ate them, toddler included. My cousin didn't seem particularly happy that she's found something home made for her child to eat - def didn't relish the idea of cooking from scratch!! (Not that I'm saying they were the most healthy of home-made things, just that they would have been a start, and could then have incorporated other foods / veggies into the idea to get her toddler used to them).

I know this program would have made me mad gggrrrr!!! I am married to the fussiest eater in the world which I blame 100% on his parents for raising him on junk food. Tbh my parents werent the healthiest, but we were always brought up on home cooked meals (mainly cos with four kids to feed takeout wouldve been ridiculously expensive). Take away was a rare treat for birthdays or if the cooker had broken!! I was shocked when we moved in that my oh didnt know how to cook what to me were basics like rice and pasta. He wont eat any veg other than marrow fat peas and i know its doing his health no good. He is 29 now!! I am determined our children will never end up like this and to be fair to oh he has agreed with me on this.

I think that's it. They can't cook or don't want to, so put it onto the child and blame them. Young children love helping to cook and then eating their efforts. We've become a nation of lazy parents. Thankfully there's still some that take pride in the job, but too many see children as accessories or meal tickets.

I do think for some people they honestly do not know where to begin with cooking and do lack the confidence to try. At least microwave meals come with instructions!! I actually once had a relative who shall remain nameless ask me how to show them how to make a mug shot!!!!!!

how does she afford to feed her kids junk food all the time.i couldn't. my daughter who is 4 1/2 loves to help me cook in the kitchen, we make lots of cakes and pizzas etc and does not take much time at all.

Hopefully she will enjoy cooking when she is older and as a result of me doing slimming world and eating more healthier it is rubbing of on her aswell and she says she likes to be healthy.

If you aren't buying all the usual groceries, I suppose junk food is cheaper. How many times have we seen on here people complaining about how much more they spend on sw? I know I spend much more.

Sounds like a descpription of my daughter in law. She lets my grandchildren graze on crisps and biscuits all day and then wonders why they won`t eat their dinner.

I have tried to help but been told to mind my own business otherwise I will be barred from their house.

I still have about a stone to lose til target. Don`t know her weight but saw washing on the line. Her tops were size 36!!

I can see trouble ahead but can`t do anything about it. Makes me angry!!

I really feel for you as a grandparent in this situation, you don't want to interfere too much as obviously don't want to be 'barred' (how nice of her...) but also must be concerned for your grandchildrens health!

Are they overweight? What does your son think of this?

Neither of the kids are overweight at the moment, but it`s not just their weight. It`s their teeth from sugary foods and their overall health.

As for my son, she can walk on water as far as he`s concerned. He has the backbone of a jelly baby. It isn`t just because they are my grandchildren.

The Woman is bone idle. She doesn`t get dressed unless she is going out and teaches the kids to do the same. (She doesn`t work). My son does almost everything at home. He`s asked me how he can get them to eat proper meals. I`ve told him to stop buying crisps etc but he then goes along with what she says.

Sorry for the rant, the whole thing just gets me worked up

It must be really hard for you to have to just step back and watch this happen all the time.

Though I will hold my hand up and admit that if I have a day off and at the weekends, if I am not going out then I often will stay in my PJs all day! Sometimes I actually progress to joggers and vest top - not much different from PJs really. Although, in my defense, I do actually get dressed on the days I do have to come into work :D
