Tried everything!

Hello,

I started calorie counting / using MFP on Monday.

I have done most diets over the last 20 ish years. I lost 4 stone on Lighter Life but have nearly put it all back on.

A few weeks ago I started Slimming World (again) but because there is no portion control I just eat way to much! I am just greedy and without those limits I just don't stop! I lose a few pounds & then put it back on.

Anyway I have never tried CC - which is strange. This week has been good. I love the MFP app... New toy )

Have been weighed today & I've lost 4 lbs in less then a week. I am really pleased & hope I can stay motivated.

Good luck everyone xx

Well done on your loss! Cal Counting is great! Can't believe how simple but effective it is!

Go you!

Good luck! I also found SW didn't help me lose beyond a certain point and you get sick of the foods you can eat for 'free'. I liked the old WW points but it was really only calorie counting which you can do on your own for free. I'm using MFP now as well just to 'make sure' but I have cut right down on portions and snacks anyway, but I like the control of logging the food, it feels safer than guessing.

I agree. I kinda feel that I need to be answerable to something & logging seems to do the trick.

I'm on MFP as michelle1a if anyone wants to 'add' me.

Just one friend in there at the mo. Hee hee.... Billy no-mates x

Well done on your loss so far :)

I'm over on mfp 1of4LittleSis

There is a thread on cc "who uses mfp?" everyone has put their user names on there :)

well done for having such a good start to your calorie counting!

i have tried almost every diet out there, but i always come back to calorie counting...

i am strict...i weigh most everything and i find that i prefer to be on a diet where i have to keep track of everything, otherwise i always over eat due to pure greed!

i hope you continue to get great results! xxx

Thank you. I've just had a couple of 'bad' ish days.... Not horrendous but just not sticking to the 1200. I think I'm stuck as I was & I'll log my weight again next week.
Hope everyone else is getting on ok xx

Had two glasses wine and a yoghurt over last night - didn't need the extra wine - can't run it off as knee still bad and at home with 3 kids

Part of me thinks it was a one off the other is looking at the scales that are stuck and kicking myself - not good :(

My friend joined that a while ago and told me the rules, and basically all the allowed foods on it are the exact ones I put the weight on with in the first place, because aside from the odd bag of cookies I've always eaten fairly healthily, by which I mean almost no fast food or greasy fry-up or anything.

Glad CC is working for you, and don't let one slip derail you - I've had one almost every week so far but I just try and see if I can make sure that particular thing won't happen again, and then keep on going - so keep your eyes on the goal, don't get sidetracked, you can do it! :)

michelle1a I have done LL, CD, WW and I just quit SW as I too cannot do the unlimited portion control. I'm eating too much and not losing enough. CC has been the best for me as I managed to keep the weight off for nearly 3 years (I'm losing my pregnancy lbs now) Good luck. 4 lbs is excellent in the first week :)

Now I'm doing CC I can see just how many calories I was eating just for the hell of it on SW, or to make up my third superfree, or try a boost with speed foods etc........pretty much every time I was in a supermarket I'd have a punnet of black grapes (yum, yum, super yum) - 375 calories or thereabouts!? I'd EASILY have had 5 a week (1875 calories), and when you add that to all the other free foods I munched, it's a wonder I lost ANY weight on SW! (but I did!)

really at the end of the day nothing is "free"... every single thing has calories in some form. The slimming world diet is not a bad one, its just far too easy to abuse it unless you are really strict with yourself. think the idea is that a lot of it would be lower on the GI scale, so the quantity fills you up before you end up eating too many calories. Just like the core/simply filling on weightwatchers, and the GI/GL diet.
