hi guys,

just a few questions to clarify any answers greatly received.:)

  • how much protein in induction can i have? Do I just work to normal amounts.?
  • what are people having for snacks?
  • do i need to have veg with protein snacks? and meals.
Thanks guys just want to make sure im on the right track.

Hi and welcome. First of all, read the stickies, especially Jim's " So you are thinking of starting Atkins." There are so many answers in there.
I tend to have whatever amount of protein I fancy at the time. The trick is to get plenty of variety.
Veg is very, very important. Again, read the stickies.
Post often and get to know us. We are a friendly crowd. :)

Good luck with it nutty! :)

Please buy or borrow a copy of one of the most recent Atkins books. The stickies here are great and a fab starting point but you do need the book to fully understand Atkins and to get lists of dos, don'ts and foods you should and should not eat at the various phases of the diet.

Good luck!

thanks everyone.I have the book and have been reading. the suggested menus for snacks in induction uses a lot of cheese and i can not eat much as it gives me migraines !!

The snacks that have helped me through the 1st week have been:

Cheese strings
Home made quiche(without the pastry):D chilled and cut into snack size slices.
Cooked chicken, drumsticks etc
And sugar free jelly

Plus I found out yesterday that pork scratchings are allowed on Atkins yum yum altho shame I cant have the pint to go with them :sigh:x

Check the recipe section too Nutty - the miraculous MIM. Fab bread substitute - made from ground flaxseed/linseed - so quick and easy to make and so filling and nutritious too. Lots of omega 3s, and tons of fibre.

You can make them sweet or savoury.

Dammit, I really need to get my MiM mojo on... will aim to attempt my first this weekend!

As for snacks - I tend to opt for cooked meat sliced up, the odd Pepperami, Babybels, Cheesestrings and sugar free jelly with squirty cream. Yummy!!
