I need Gok!!

Been getting very frustrated trying to decide what to wear for a wedding reception I'm going to with my OH, his boss and his family tomorrow night. I don't know anyone else there (well, my OH does, because it's the people who own the business he and his boss run). I have a feeling that it'll be quite 'flashy' dressy, but don't want to go too much down that road in case I'm wrong.

AND, despite that minefield, my main problem is looking in the mirror and getting things in perspective. I'm between 10 and 12 at the moment (smaller than have been for ages), and despite exercising most days, still have a bit of a tummy (but suppose that's going to be the case at 39 years of age!) When I look in the mirror that tummy is the only thing I see. I force myself to look at the little waist, almost toned arms, etc., but can't keep my eyes off my tummy. I think I'm probably being silly, and don't want to end up wearing something 'safe' and regretting missing the chance to dress up after all my hard work getting to this size, but then, don't want to obsess all night about it either.

I bought some tummy control pants from Primark, but to be honest don't think they make much difference and they make me feel hot and claustraphobic.

Sorry for the long moan - I just need Gok to come and sort me and my insecurities out I think.

*A pretty dress that's fitted at the waist, with a waist belt to enhance your smallest part. Then some simple accessories and some nice shoes :)
*Or how about some high waisted black trousers with a pussybow blouse, chiffon maybe?
*Or a skirt which sits on or just below your waist and skims over your tummy, again with a nice blouse?
*Or, go for a simple maxi dress :D which suits almost everyone, how tall are you?? Xx

What about something with a tight waist to show that off, then flares over your tummy? Something along the lines of the 50's 'poodle' dresses?

This is what I usually wear. Was kind of hoping to go more sophisticated for a change. Plus, my faves are a little loose now and don't really want to buy new stuff for this as don't even know anyone there.

Going to resume trying on later on rather than get any more het up with it at the moment.

I do actually have a dress on order from Collectif at the moment (not for wedding particularly). Never know - suppose that might turn up today or tomorrow anyway.

PS. Thought I'd posted this in off-topic. Apologies for putting it in the wrong place. Kind of embarrassed at my faux-pas

I'm only diddy - about 5'1". I'm kind of stuck in my style (don't do fashion). 40's / 50's.

I'm more frustrated at my self-critical state / paranoia to be honest.
Did experiment with boob-enhancing fillet things in my bra, and that seems to make more difference than the tummy control knickers. Seems to make it all seem more hourglass (rather than weeble). lol

I went for black. Got lots of red accessories, so can always brighten it up that way, and as it has a sleeve it might be handy to have as a more formal one (funerals and all that - not that I have any planned at the moment, but they tend to crop up more regularly in recent years).

The dress came, but it was too big. Boooo.

I hate doing returns, but as an online shopper it has to be done. The whole order was a fail this time as the embroidery on the cardie that looked red in the pic turned out to be a definite pink (I don't do pink unfortunately) so that's going back as well. It was supposed to be my birthday present, but will have to rethink. The dress that was too big was a 12 (so pretty chuffed in a way) but think the 10 might be too little, and my loss has slowed right up now.

Anyway - think have decided on dress for tonight. Tummy pants in the bin. Comfy shoes for boogying sorted (most comfy shoes ever from Clarks originals - highly recommended - called Ripple Wave).

So - just need to get organised for hotel stay now.

:)

All that worrying, then some drunk woman vomitted all down the back of my dress anyway. Then my tummy was the least of my problems.
