The family have arranged to go to a restaurant on Sunday to celebrate a birthday, I just checked the website coz I want to plan ahead by looking at the menu to see what would be kind of ok (or at least low syn anyway). Now that Ive done that the menu looks awful, have no idea what to pick... have put a screen shot below so any advice would be muchly appreciated!!!!

Go for the steak, ask for it not to be cooked in oil or butter - don't get the onions or mushrooms(probably loaded with butter or oil too) and ask for a side salad with dressing on the side(have done this with many a set menu, they have been very accommodating!) - I would syn the steak at 6 as rib eye does have some fat in it..,

Sorry i should have added... dont like steak and salmon (trust me to be awkward :/ ) thanks for the advice on that though :)

Maybe the gnocchi? That's potato based. I would ask them to put the parmesan in a bowl on the side, and not eat the garlic bread. I wouldn't like to guess on syns though!

i would call the place and explain that you need a Caeser salad with no dressing or cheese..... and ask if you can have a salad to start with if you feel left out.........

I was considering going for the scampi with a side of veg and the tartare sauce with lemon - no starter btw and I can just stick to diet coke as im driving so wine wont be a problem. It doesnt happen v often going out with the family so I suppose i can use minimal syns up to then and do extra exercise, if i pick that i wouldnt like to think it would be a whole weeks worth of syns but its always a difficult one though to try and juggle but I thought it was best to do my research first and have a look at the menu beforehand instead of just turning up and not having a clue. Does this sound ok?

Thanks for the advice ladies :) much appreciated x

The goats cheese in filo pastry sounds wonderful - filo pastry is not too high in syns. And the caesar salad with dressing served separately would be good too.

Ok so its the next day... i went for the scampi with a side of chips and tartare sauce - i feel bloody awful :'( wi tomorrow night and i need half a pound off to get my stone.

Any idea of what syn value I'm looking at for this?

Online syns - based on average portions are;

Scampi / Chips / Tartare sauce (1tbsp)

EE 16 17.5 3
Red 16 27 3
Green 20 17.5 3

Thanks for that... My extra exercise paid off - loss of 1.5 :D I got my first stone :)
