How many calories?

Hi

I am just wondering how many calories you guys stick to?

I am currently following slimfast, but want to start dropping shakes and replacing with real food before too long...
With slimfast it works out to 1360cals per day. So I am wondering if there is scope to raise that a little and still lose weight?
 
I would suggest registering with Myfitnesspal. It tells you how many calories you are allowed depending on age weight etc.

Going by your stats I would say what you are on might be about right, maybe even a bit high? I'm a lot bigger than you (18stone) but I have the highest weight loss setting on mfp, mine comes out to 1470.
 
Myfitnesspal tells me to eat 1200 cals a day to lose 0.7lbs a week :( so im having 800-1000 a day its weigh day tomorrow so will let you know how its worked out.
 
Oh wow, some of those figures are low:(

I have only done one week on Slimfast so far and lost 3lb in the first week. I just know I don't want to use the shakes for too long, or maybe do a combined kind of diet, where I use the shakes some days and calorie count other days?

I hope none you mind me lurking and posting in here from now on too:)

MFP put me on 1200 to lose 1.5 a wk. Don't forget if u want more cal then you can eat back ur exercise calories x
 
Thank you for pointing me to MFP, it also has an android app which is mega handy for me as I only really get a chance to get the lappy out when the little ones are napping/in bed :D

1220 - to lose 1.5lb per week
1470 - to lose 1lb per week

So I suppose Slimfast diet of 1360 is pretty much perfect for me, I think I will let myself bounce between those figures. I will 'aim' for the lower figure but if having a particularly hungry day (ie totm) then I have leeway for an extra couple of hundred cals...

ANOTHER QUESTION

Ages back I heard of something called calorie cycling, do any of you do this?
 
i kinda do... I set my allowance at the highest weight loss (aka the least calories) then I have a day where I have a treat meal, usually a chippy or something. I definitely think even just having one day of higher intake than the rest helps to stimulate the old metabolism. I wouldn't go the whole hog because I dont know if i could keep to the very low days, and i would get confused very easily lol :p

Just make sure at any point you arent falling below 1000/1100 as that would be kinda unhealthy xx

regarding calorie cycling I used to do 1200 ish for 6 days a week then 1600 on a sunday. Now i've stopped doing that but as I'm at a slow weight loss point and would love to lose more i know it will come with time, so i might get back to taht
 
I think I will look into it a bit myself. I have found in the past that I could have a blowout but yet still lose if I had been strict enough through the week.....so there must be something in it!
 
its just making sure that one bad day stays as ONE bad day :p I usually have a "binge" meal once a week anyways and never had problems if i took the rest of the week seriously. Once I did a no treat week, exercised a lot (as usual) and put on half a pound...! I was raging and swore never to do it again :p
 
I'm on a plan that varies calories from week to week. I'm doing week 1: 1285 per day, week 2:1277 per day, week 3: 1270 calories per day etc. At week 12 I will be at the lowest of 1204 per day and hopefully be a stone lighter. I found it on a website and you plug in what you weigh, want to weigh, height, age etc and how long you want it to take. We'll see how it works. I lost 1.5 lbs last week, but gained it all back over the weekend (wine & crisps) No wine or crisps for 2 weeks to give this a proper go:D

I've just seen your goal weight is 110! at 5ft 3>?>? why do you want to be so skinny i think the last time i weighted that i was about 19 lol and only 5ft 1 looking back at pictures i didn't look as good as i thought far too skinny :/
 
Hello ladies.. of topic abit but how many calories do u thinks in half a chicken breast (no skin) a jacket potato (bit of butter) and veg? This would be classed as a healthy tea right? x
 
Sounds like a lovely tea. :)
I reckon just under 400 ish. Depends on how big the jacket spud is. :)

Hmmm yummy, yea 250g pot is about 180 I think...

im doing 1200 cals, under 100g carbs too :D
