Help - broken hob

Hi

My cooker hob broke on Friday night which means I can't use it at all. So I can't boil, fry or steam anything. :sigh:

The insurance company aren't open till tomorrow due to the bank holiday so I have no idea when it will get fixed - or even if it can be fixed! Not 100% sure that they will cover it either yet!

So please can I have ideas on meals that can be made from the oven as all I'm coming up with are stews and casseroles and I'm already bored with those anyway. I tried to microwave some veg the other night and it was horrible!!!! So I won't be doing that again. I even put cheese on it and usually I will eat anything with cheese but I couldn't even eat it at all.

So please please please can I have any ideas for meals that can be done in the oven that don't need pre-cooking or frying off on the hob.

You could do things like the fat free supernoodles in the microwave?

Maybe stuff like pasta baked - if you add done water, the pasta will cook in the oven whilst everything else cooks. That, or stews and casseroles - plenty of recipes for those in the recipes section?

Hope things get sorted soon!

grilled steak or gammon steak, salad and mushrooms (I normally cook mushrooms in the microwave)?

Why not do a pile of roasted veg? Potatoes, courgettes, carrots, butternut squash, aubergines, peppers, anything really chopped up. Add some chicken thighs (skin off) and spray with frylight. This is my 'can't think what to make'. Cook about 200 C 40-60 mins. Hope hob fixed soon.

Here's a recipe, 1 oven proof dish meal................

Pete’s Harissa Coated Chicken with Roasted Veg

Serves 2
Ingredients
2 chicken breasts
1 onion, cut into 4
1 leek cut into 2cm pieces
1 carrot cut into 2cm pieces
1 potato, cut into 4
1 jar of Harissa Paste
Cajun Seasoning
4 rashers of smoked bacon
Method

Wrap the chicken with 2 slices of smoked bacon with the fat removed. Coat the chicken with the Harissa paste and place in an ovenproof dish, sprayed with Fry Light, and set aside.

Coat the potatoes with Cajun seasoning. Prepare the other vegetables and put them into an ovenproof dish, sprayed with Fry Light, place into an oven preheated to 180c for 30-40 mins or until the veg are cooked.

After 15 mins place the chicken into the oven.

Serve with a bowl of salad.
