I developed this recipe because I had egg white in my fridge which were about to expire. I decided I didn't want to simply drink straight egg whites, so this was developed from a suggestion on the box for a protein shake made with fruit juice. I have modified it with sugar free syrups (sold at Bed Bath & Beyond in the US) and whey protein powder.

Egg white Frappucino -- Strawberry, Hazelnut or Chocolate

1/3 cup egg whites (can be bought at the store)
21 grams (one rounded scoop) of whey protein powder, natural vanilla flavor (80 calories, .5 mg fat, 16 g protein)

and any of the following flavorings:
¼ cup Da Vinci sugar free strawberry syrup
¾ cup water
(the syrup is already sweetened, so no Stevia is needed with this one)

or
¼ cup Da Vinci sugar free hazelnut syrup
¼ cup instant coffee powder
¾ cup water
1 packet of Stevia (equivalent to two teaspoons sugar)

or
1 tablespoon chocolate extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup Hershey;s unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ cup water
1 packet of Stevia (equivalent to two teaspoons sugar)

Put all ingredients in a blender and set it on “frappe” for one minute. I usually add 3-4 ice cubes to keep it frosty, but this is a matter of taste.

The result is a frothy, creamy liquid that is very much like what Starbucks calls a Frappucino but has no sugar and lots of protein.

The protein content of this should be high (since the three egg whites add 35 calories and 3.6 grams of protein each, coming to 105 calories and 10.8 grams of protein)
Total calories = about 185 (with trace amounts from the flavorings) and 26.8 grams of protein

During the hot summer months I used to indulge in the Frappucinos at Starbucks, and that may have caused me to gain weight. This one is just as good and should help me to lose it.
