Put the cake down fatty!

Hi all!

Inspired by other diaries, I've decided to start my own!

I'm B, I'm 26 and I live in Norfolk. I work as a legal adviser in Norwich and am about to do some more studying in the autumn (I love studying - perpetual student!).

I've been overweight for most of my 20's. I've been as low as 12st and as high as nearly 20st. I've never really specifically dieted until last year, I either cut certain foods out and did more exercise, or sometimes stupidly just didn't eat at all. I had anorexia when I was a teen as a by product of being called fat (I was muscley, as I played a lot of sports) and sometimes my silly head can't get around the fact dieting doesn't mean starving yourself, so I always refrained from doing a diet as such.

I did Weight Watchers last March until July and lost 5 stone in a short space of time, but towards the end I was restricting myself massively which ended up triggering binges, which just got worse and worse. I kept promising myself I would go back, and indeed I did, but always fell off the wagon after about a week (sometimes even days). It wasn't helped that I was made redundant from my old job as I had plenty of time to sit around and eat, and not do much exercise.

I tried doing Propoints with WW again but didn't really get on with it - I needed something with a bit of spark and newness about it, so decided to get on MFP - it's free and such a good little app for the iPhone. The principles are the same, just calorie counting instead of point counting, and nothing is off limits.

I've been doing it a week now, and have my first weigh in tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed! At the moment my calorie allowance is 1530, as I spend a lot of the day on my feet, but as I don't do any specific exercise at the moment (I have M.E. and am usually shattered when I get in from work, plus I have a two hour commute) I'm aiming for around 1200. I hope once I have a routine going I can start attending gym classes as I really enjoy them when I go.

Anyway, that's a little about me and my back story, I'm looking forward to reading your diaries and getting to know you all :)

Hiya. Good luck for your weigh in tomorrow! Calorie counting has been great for me. Only diet that I've been able to commit to!

Welcome to ccing. :)

Like so many others on here, I could not imagine doing any other diet than calorie counting, it really has transformed the way I think about food, which is so important.

Good luck hun :)

Hi hun,

Such an honest first post and WELL DONE on your first week! Good luck for your weigh-in today, I'm sure you've done really well. :)

I too love CC and I have battled with all sorts of diets, which before left me feeling confused and rubbish. I've finally found a plan that I'm comfortable with - and more importantly - I'm in control.

Good luck on your CC journey and keep us all posted :D

Good luck on your weigh in and well done on your first week :) *crosses her fingers for you*

Thanks for all the lovely replies! Really means a lot.

I had my weigh in this morning and I have lost 5lbs! Thought it might be a little higher as I usually lose more weight the first week I do a plan but 5lbs off is still brilliant. It may even be a little more - I was 17st 12lbs on the Monday but if I remember correctly I was about 18st on the dot on Tuesday so could be more like 7lbs. Either way I am looking downwards and I am pleased!

Am waiting to start work at 10am - I am getting really nervous about it as we have to "sell" appointments and it's been so slow recently! Bought my chicken and cous cous salad into work, it was lovely yesterday!

Have a good day everyone x

Yay!!!!! Well done you!!! 5lbs is FAB!!!! :D Wooo hooo! you go girl!! xxx

That's brilliant! Well done!

Thanks everyone :) Can I get an opinion from you lovely lot? Do you drink alcohol or completely go sober? A lot of my friends drink most nights a week and I have been finding myself choosing not to go out, or drinking diet drinks. I really fancy a glass of wine tonight and have available calories, but wondering what te consensus is on drinking? Like do you find it slows your weight loss down? X

Alot of us on here like a drink, so you are not alone. :)

If you have the calories then it is up to you how you use them. By all means have a glass of wine. I tend not to drink all week, and I have Saturday as treat night and that is when I usually have a couple of glasses of wine or a bottle of cider. If I'm going out with the girls I tend to stick to vodka, lime and soda. It's very low cal. :)

Thank you for replying :)

I had a glass of wine with my friends but stopped at one - mainly as I had to get the bus home :p

Since I have been doing this I have hardly drank at all and I feel better for it - sometimes I take some time out from drinking and I always feel better - I have spent a large portion of spring and early summer drinking!

I am home now and completely shattered! Just had some dinner and am under my calorie allowance :) I am full though so will leave it at just shy of 1300! Xxx

I still drink. Couldn't go sober lol. It's a bit easier for me cos I'm not big on wine. Spirits with a diet mixer isn't so high in calories. But like tomorrow I will be having cocktails to celebrate my dissertation being handed in so will probably go over, but I only have cocktails rarely now!

I love cocktails too :D congratulations on your dissertation!

I have had a terrible day - so emotional and highly strung, eaten chips and a wrap from mcdonalds which could have been worse I suppose! Oh, and had a pint of beer :slapsself: not sure what I am having for dinner tonight but will be back on the wagon tomorrow - I already feel tired from the crappy food! X

Well, yesterday was fine on the eating front, just a couple of cals above 1200 and appears I have lost a pound since weds so happy with that!

Today is my Friday so have a 7 hr shift infront of me, hope it goes quite quickly as I have a horrible headache and am so tired! Going to cook a nice dinner tonight as it's my weekend from half five tonight!

have a good day everyone! X

i was getting totally confused there when you were saying 'my weekend' and 'my friday'

took me ages to work out what you meant.. *thick* LOL :p

enjoy your weekend when half 5 comes :) xxx

Hey Rach, thanks for popping by - good to see you :)

Phew, I was so relieved at half five yesterday! I had a cracker of a headache all day and at one point seriously thought I was going to pass out - I told myself to be strong and stop being a wimp and eventually it subsided (about 4pm!). Managed to do quite well at work yesterday so that was good.

Got home and cooked pork escalopes with a spicy tomato sauce and roasted potatoes, was a really nice meal if a little too spicy! Had a smoothie lolly for dessert and then had the munchies later on and had half a 50g tub of wasabi peas - they are sooo nice! Managed to come in under my calorie limit (1530) at 1350cals, trying to stick to between 1200-1300 as I'm not doing any real exercise at the moment.

Stupidly woke up at half 6 this morning expecting to go to work, and couldn't really get back to sleep, so had a little look at recipes in my books as people are coming over this afternoon for dinner. I was mainly waiting for the shop down the road to open so I could get some breakfast - I had two dry fried eggs on toast with some mushrooms and ketchup, which was really tasty.

Not sure what I am cooking for lunch yet, feel a bit uninspired as I've been eating ready meals all week to save time so I have a resemblance of an evening left when I get home at half 7! I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Have a good day all! xxx

Have a good lunch! You'll enjoy it after all the ready meals! :)
