Hello!
Having spent my evening yesterday reading through many of the diaries on here, I felt that now is the time for me to take the plunge and create my own!
I have been doing slimming world on and off since the tender age of 15 (being 18 now, that is 3 longggg years!), and have managed to get some of the weight off that I needed. However, various things came up that stalled my journey to being a skinny mini, exams, summer, boredom, ect!
However, now is the time to do something positive about my weight! As I shall (hopefully) be attending University to study theatre at the end of the summer, I( will not be the fattest person in theatre! A month is not a long time, I know, but the ultimate goal is to lose the weight needed in order to get down to a size 10-12 by the end of my first year ( a more achievable goal me thinks!).
So here goes! I usually weigh in at home on thursday morning.

Green day!
Today for breakfast I had...

28g porridge oats ( HEB)
Semi skimmed milk (HEA)
Banana
Coffee

for Lunch:

tomato and herb mugshot
2 slices WW bread (HEB)
butter 1.5 syns

Ok, so far so good today!
Breakfast and Lunch went fab, stuck to the plan completely! Took the dog out for a walk- we both returned completely knackered!

For dinner tonight...

Roast potatoes
Lots of Veg- Broc, cabbage, carrots
Chicken- 2.5 syns (only having the small amount left over from sunday lunch
Gravy- 2.5 syns
Yorkshire pudding- 3
banana

Syns for the day: 9.5

Hiya

You'll get loads of support on here and more importantly people to get you back on the wagon when you feel too weak to do it by yourself.

My daughter wants to study drama at uni once she's finished college. Well actually she wants to be a famous actress but she's going to train as a drama teacher until she's famous :D

I've been doing every diet going since I was about 14 and I'm 42 now. This time it feels different though. I know I'm going to do it :)

Good luck

Thank you Tilly!
I only discovered this site about a month ago, and already I can see how supportive people are! Its great to see people helping other people for a change!

Good luck with your weight loss as well, I will have to take a gander over to your diary!

Ok, so yesterday was a very good first day on SW! Was a bit naughty towards the end of the night, where I just couldn't resist having a Go ahead yoghurt break, bringing my total syns for the day to 16.5! Oh well, Today is a new day!:)

So, for breakfast today, I had....

Porridge HEB
Milk HEA
Banana
Coffee

I wouldn't worry about the extra yoghurt, at least you made a healthy choice. Good luck for your WI!

So...This morning was a goo morning, stuck to the plan far :)

Lunch today was eaten out so as it was a Green day, it was....

Jacket Potato
Cheese- HEA
Baked beans
Kit Kat- 5.5 syns
Aldi iced coffee drink (not sure about the syns, but based on basic syns principles- 5.5 syns

Plan to have for dinner...

Chicken- HEB
Potato
Assortment of veg
BBQ sauce- 1 syn

Total syns for the day: 12

Hey

Good idea having a food diary - it really makes you sit and realise what you have actually eaten!

Your diary seems good :) Are you weighing yourself at home or with a group?
I have dieted since I was 11... first losing a stone in 14days on Atkins. But that's NOT a diet... it's an eating disorder. For 14 days I only ate chicken (hot/cold), sausages (hot/cold). Yep, that's it. Because at that age I was already a picky eater and didn't eat much meat... but I had headaches, was tired all the time, not to mention the bad breath caused by the diet! BUT it was a quick fix. Luckily I kept the weight off for a few years but when I started University I put on about 1.5st in the first TERM (most was prob over xmas!) and i realised, at 12st 4lbs, that I needed to change my life.

So, using my mum and sisters SW books I decided to incorporate SW into my uni life. I would generally lose the weight and get down to about 10st 7lbs and then stop... until the weight crept up another 7lbs then would diet again.

Now... uni has finished, and I am entering a new era in my life - im studying for my pgce in primary education at a new uni in september. I also have my graduation in november and have a very big point to make to my old uni peers! So am also sticking to this diet until i get to my desired weight, not giving up half way through.

I must say, now i'm attending a group and even though i'm parting with £5 a week... It makes me want to lose weight more because I dont like to see +__lbs in my books lol i want -__lbs every week!!!

I think your goal is definitely achievable :) university is a difficult time to stick to diets when everyone else is eating junk food and drinking... but i think the course you are doing (being in the spotlight all the time, needing alot of energy for rehearsals and performances) will keep you on target because once you lose just a little bit of weight you will notice a positive difference (and your peers will want to know your secret as to why you eat all the time and STILL lose weight?! haha :D)

Good luck with it, and with uni! Enjoy yourself and by the 'hopefully' i assume you're waiting on your A Level results this week? Well fingers crossed for you, I'm sure you will be fine :D
xx

Hello Bugsbunny!
Lovely to hear from someone who has been through the diet at uni! Yes I am still waiting on my results, only 2 days left now!
Im weighing in at home, as I cant afford to go to group at the moment, and tbh don't really like the dynamics of my local group, as they tend to go round asking everyone about their week, regardless of loss or gain!
Im hoping that once I get to uni, it might actually be a bit easier, as I will have lots of work and rehearsals to do, so hopefully it will take my mind off eating!
Good luck to you with your diet and with your PGCE (teaching is my ultimate goal as well!)

Don't get me wrong. It is hard sometimes (which is why i'm STILL not the weight I wanted to be 2 years ago lol) but you know yourself. You know when you need to stop thinking about syns and start focusing on work... though a healthy mind is a happy mind. I tended to eat whole double packs of custard creams while revising/writing essays - and would put it down to stress :( oh how silly i was!!

It's fine i never went to group at uni because i didnt have the money lol i think they should do student prices tbh!!! but i used to weigh in on my wii fit. even now, because i go to SW, i never stay for the class. She's done it for years and doesnt like the image therapy bit... and as she is my ride, i dont really get a say lol! now the class we do is too far away from me to even travel back by myself :( lol! but im still doing okay so im sure u will too!!

I would say its good to start now so that once september hits, SW will be second nature to you :) you will know what recipes and meals you like so you can cook (and prices so you can plan student budgets and what kitchen stuff you need to buy for halls/accommodation); you will already know the plans and will find it easy to stick to your HEx's and your syn count; you will also know what works and what doesn't. I recommend keeping a diary for as long as you want because if you don't lose or even gain one week you can look back and try and decide what happened?

Thank you, i'm also worried how my diet will fit around my PGCE. I have to travel for over an hour to uni, 5 days a week, from about 7am until 5pm then travel back lol - AND try and keep dieting under control. But i do have an aim and refuse to let stress or hard work get in my way :) i will be a skinny minny teacher hahah!

Good luck for Thurs let us know how you do? Also what day will you be weighing in?
Danni xx

The diary looks good and i bet following the plan while being a student will b a struggle sometimes however i am sure u will do well! U will just have to look out for all the bargains (like when pasta n sauce is on buy 1 fet 2 free etc)
Good luck for result, weigh loss and uni...remember, u have the rest of yr life to diet! take it slowly and if when u first go to uni u gain a pound level this up with the amount of fun you had!! :) uni is the best and i bet u find some ppl who want to join in...u could create yr own SW with a few mates! x

I usually weigh in on Thursday morning... I used to go to a Thursday class when I was 15, as I used to go for free!
I already keep a diary with me, and hopefully keeping the one on here for everyone to see will keep me motivated! I think I will be alright for food during the day as I can take some from home (not living in halls as the uni is literally 15 mins from where I live already) and there is a really good salad/jacket potato/sandwich shop in the city centre by the uni, so at least there will be some healthy things for me to eat during the day!
And I will let you know how thursday goes, am keeping everything crossed, but not too hopeful, the most important exam for me was really, really, really hard!
xx

Oh even better by not living away (food wise!) as your family will be able to keep you on track. Most students, whether they're on diets or not, tend to overcompensate from being away from mummy's cooking by binging on everything they wouldn't normally binge on at home lol! I used to live in halls, and didn't really bond with my flatmates, so used to keep alot of food in my room. I had tubs of kitkats and multibags of crisps... and during the first term before i found a group of friends, i used to eat in my room alone alot of nights and days off from uni :( then after xmas i found a group of friends and used to walk to uni and go out alot more. It's all about lifestyle choices :)

Ah, just because it was hard doesn't mean you didn't ace it :p it's the cocky people who tend to get bitten on the backside when it comes to exams etc :) GOOD LUCK :D :D

Hey Charlotte,

Nice diary, looking really well this week!

Going to uni can be hard, as other people may steer you off track. As long as you are determined, it will be ok, possibly easier as you may have more control over food now then you do now.

I've just finished my 1st year at uni, and I was going to slimming world when I started, but I couldnt do it. I just lack determination. I personally really really want this to be my LAST weight loss journey. I have it sorted now; I feel like it is right for me. Now I have this site i know that if it does go down the toilet I have people to help support me, as you will have people to support you.

I hope your results go well! Let us know!

Hey Liv,

I agree 100%. It is hard to stick to SW & live away at Uni. Too many distractions and people saying "oh just have a slice" lol! I found it very hard to stick to which is why I too want this to be my last weight journey, i think that's a good statement to make :)

Like Charlotte, I'll be living at home while doing my PGCE so I know that my mum will have a SW-friendly meal cooked for me when I get home. If I was away at Uni I would be too tired to cook and prob have pizza or cereal for dinner lol - NOT GOOD!!

xxx

My uni is like 2 and 1/2 hrs away from home so I have to live on my own. I know I have a group at uni to go to, but I just have to be extra careful. I know its something that will be sabotaging me! I hope that if I really set myself in my SW ways, maybe some of it will stick! I just think that I will need a lot of help to get me through the year.
I have 6 more weigh ins before I go back, I want them to count!

Liv xxx

Good luck with it :) definitely make those 6 weigh ins count and share your wonderful successes on the this site :D xx

Ok, so today was a VERY bad day! The plan has gone completely out of the window!
Spent today at Drayton Manor with my family, and had every intention of sticking to plan, I even made myself a chicken salad to take with me for dinner. Best intentions until....I woke up very late and grabbed the first thing that I could out of the cupboard to eat, which just so happened to be a....HOT CROSS BUN! OH DEAR! So straight away 9 syns gone, and all before 9am!

Lunch was then the chicken salad, made of chicken tikka pieces, salad and thousand island dressing (2 syns, why am I even counting????).... so far, I could pull this back, until....Nan pulls out the BBQ cocktail sausages and cheese twists! It all went severely down hill from there. To cut a long story short, this, and the box of Banofeo popcorn that I also consumed, this is not what I should be doing the day before WI!

Oh well, I am drawing a line under today, and praying for a not very big gain tomorrow!

DW Charlotte, I spent the day Monday at Thorpe Park with my bf, my older sister and her partner and my two young newphews (9yrs old + 4yrs old) and the oldest nephews 9yr old friend. My sister usually takes a cooler bag of goodies for them all and usually i would snack on the things she brings (sausage rolls, choc bars, mini sausages, jaffa cakes, pasta/sandwiches etc). But this week I managed to get away with just a few cocktail sausages, two mini sausage rolls and then had chicken nuggets and chips for dinner. So not as bad as a usual trip to thorpe park lol.

Just hope that it won't have gone on by the time you weigh in tomorrow? lol and then just continue the plan from tomorrow :) don't let it dishearten you at least you know where you went wrong
xx all the best

But, I got the news that I have bee waiting for....I GOT INTO UNIVERSITY!!!! Somehow that 1 pound loss doesnt seem that important today!
