Menopause and HRT

Hi, sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section, but I couldn't find anything specifically for Menopause/HRT.

I got prescribed HRT - Premique (not got them with me in work but think its 0.625mg) for menopausal symptoms, especially hot flushes and night sweats, which has had a dramatic effect on my sleeping pattern. I have been on them for a week, and just wondered if anyone else uses them, and if so, how long it took for you to see any differences in the symptoms?

I am having the same problems as you at the moment and am considering HRT so am interested to see how you get on.
Am sure I've seen it somewhere that they take a couple of weeks to start to have an effect, as the hormones need to kind of build up in your system.

I have been taking some natural supplements which do seem to be helping but I am still getting the hot flushes and night sweats but they seem less intense and I am sleeping better on the whole.

The Dr did advise me it could take 6 weeks before seeing any difference, but I just wondered how others might have found it.

I tried a few herbal remedies but they didnt make any difference. I also tried soya milk for about a month, but that didnt help either.

Horrible isn't it........:)

Yeah, not pleasant at all.

what herbal things have you tried ? I am taking the high strenght starflower oil , and also sage tablets. They are helping , seem to take the edge off,but the sage tablets repeat on me and its like I've permanently just eaten christmas dinner LOL

I tried the Black Cohosh, Sage and Evening Primrose.

I wish they had worked, because HRT was something that I never wanted to use. I have been suffering for 3 years, but just over the last month or so, I couldn't stick it any longer. That's when I thought its time to see the Doc.

This is my 8th day on the HRT, and last night I only woke up 3 times during the night with hot flushes - this is the best nights sleep I have had in a long time, usually I am awake every hour or so.

Fingers crossed that they are beginning to kick in, even though the Doc said it could take up to 6 weeks to see a difference, maybe the hormones are starting to work.........yayyyyy.

Already had a couple in work today - but so far so good :)
