Ive had a week off Exante I was on holiday with my nieces. Now I dont know if its coincidental but today Im totally ill. Ive had the most awful diarrhoea all day, I dont ever recall spending so much time in the loo in my life! And ive got terrible stomach cramps too. If I didnt know better Id think they were period cramps.

Has anyone else had this after being off packs?

I have heard about this from people who have done juice fasting for long periods and then suddenly gone back on food.

The explanation I have been given is that when doing a liquid diet, the stomach stops producing so much hydrochloric acid, because it doesn't need that much to break down the liquid.

If you are on a liquid diet for a while, and then suddenly go back on food (especially meat) your stomach has to deal with trying to digest solid food without enough acid to deal with it.

This means partially un-digested food enters the intestines and causes cramping and digestive upset.

Hope that helps... the moral of the story is.. if you re-introduce food, make it as plain as possible and preferably meat-free for a few days to give the stomach a chance to realise it needs to increase acid production.

are you back on the packs now and if so how long? I had this on da two of ts after my aam weeks both times I thinks its the body getting used to the vits without the extra food again!! hope you feel better soon.x

:( I am suffering with this today - just came on me out of no where. I am on day 13 and doing everything I have been doing from day 1. I have only had a vanilla shake (plus water, dr pepper and bouillon) - it did make my stomach turn drinking it and reminded me strangely of fish (I know odd!!) so not sure if that was the cause but I feel pretty rotten :(

Katt I've had some oddly fishy shakes too recently! don't think they make a difference to my insides though, although it does mean I have to try to drink them without breathing! I thought maybe they have fish oils in and I'd just never noticed before (I tend to down them pretty quick!)
