Hi just wondered does every meal you have need to be 1/3 Super Free including breakfast, dinner, and tea

Thanks Andy

E/E

Yep! I add fruit to breakfast, salad to lunch and cooked veg to dinner. Every meal should have at least 1/3 superfree.

Yes, and this is probably one of the most over-looked bits of SW.

A lot of E/E followers neglect this essential part of the plan lol.

You can use the superfree for desert aswel eg if ur main meal doesn't have any/much superfree then have a fruit salad after x it's 1/3 superfree per meal not per course xx

You can but that doesn't help you limit your portions of free foods so if you have a problem with that you could end up eating more than you need.

I agree, your super free should be on your plate.

Some meals don't allow for superfree food tho eg bangers mash n beans...good old family favourite that I'm not goin to ruin by putting salad or veg on. This is a way of life, not a diet and it's not possible to always have it on your plate.

Mushrooms and/or tomatoes go well with that, but the choice will always be yours.

Umm - if you are following SW properly you should already be making a compromise with something like bangers & mash. You would be using low fat or quorn sausages, which imo are not anywhere near as nice as proper sausages. You will not have used half a pound of butter in your mash. Why on earth would you therefore be adverse to adding a bit of veg to your meal?!

I also don't agree that its not possible to always have it on your plate. I manage quite nicely all the time thanks.

I think meals are enhanced by adding delicious veg to it! If you plonked a pile of boiled to death vegetables on your plate then of course it'll be off putting but if you're creative and cook the veg specifically to compliment your meal then it'll taste better, much better! E.g. Cumin roast cauliflower with a curry, lightly steamed broccoli topped with a bit of butter (synned) with lasagne, braised cabbage and bacon with grilled fish, balsamic roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes with lamb etc. A bangers and mash meal would go really well with roasted root veg on the side (carrots, butternut squash, beetroot, red onion etc. Yum!) It takes a bit longer to prepare the veg but I think it's worth it, but then again I love to cook!

That's great that you manage quite nicely all the time but not all of us are the same - I must say I am ok most of the time but if I struggle then I have a smaller portion of dinner then a fruit salad, others may not be able to do that but I can so it works for me, again we are all different.

That was kinda the point i was trying to make. A statement like 'its impossible to put 1/3rd on your plate sometimes' is a massive get out free jail card for people who don't want to try. I was just trying to point out its not impossible if you want it to not be impossible.

Hi. Don't feel bad because others manage easily every time and sometimes you struggle. I totally get what you mean, it is hard to think of ways to add super free to EVERY meal and I'm kinda sick of eating them if I'm totally honest but do it cos I have to. I would love to cook veg in interesting ways like someone suggested but when I get in from a 12 hour shift after literally being on my feet all day, I can't face the extra work especially since starting SW I now cook a meal from scratch every night for 3 people, I usually just chuck some veg in a pan of water and boil it lol but hey, I'm not super woman :) congrats to all the people who are managing it really well, I can only hope one day to reach that level! Xx

I agree, everyone should try. Like last night I did Tandoori Cod, normally I would just have rice but to get my 1/3 I just added LOADS of chopped tomatoes, Pepper, Onion and Mushroom to the rice and 'fried' it with egg and spices - yummy!

Not having a go but with writing responses sometimes it easy to take things the wrong way, and you sounded like you were really having a go, which I now know you wasn't, and everyone on here is here for friendly advise.

Oh hun - i'm really sorry i sounded like that - a smily goes a long way & sometimes i forget to add one. Was def not trying to have a go.

Your tandoori cod sounds lovely - just bought some cod so may try that!

Hi all
Does it matter if the plate is more than 1/3 Superfree ?? I'm defo putting more superfree than free on the plate. Also I've made a curry and there's loads and loads of superfree in it (more than free chicken) so do I still add 1/3 superfree to plate ?? Confused.com lol XD

At least 1/3rd of your plate - so more is fine. If 1/3 rd of you Curry is superfree, and you aren't adding any other free foods to your plate (eg rice) you're fine - no need to add more
