Weight and working?

StepUpFairy

METAAAAAL!!
I just need some feedback/advice really

I left my job just under 3 months ago and since then, I have put on the weight I lost whilst working and then some.

I am trying my hardest to find work, applying everyday and such. It's just the sitting round (as it were) thats getting to me. With not having anything to really fill my time I am constantly thinking of food and it's driving me mad

Any tips?

Hey!

I can totally understand your plight - when i was out of work a few years ago i gained at least 3 stone! This website is awesome! Start a diary and just keep posting when ever you feel like you are bored or in the mood for a million munchies! The people on this website are just wonderful and offer so much support.

Weight loss is really hard! but the results make it worth while!! we will all be here for you whether you have a good day or a bad day just think of each day as a fresh start and you cant go far wrong!

are you doing any exercise at the moment? are you following any specific diet?

GOOD LUCK!! x

Thank you! Think I'll need all the support I can get :)

Am currently on the Celebrity Slim diet. Combined with general healthy eating I'm hoping it'll give me a boost as I have a lot to lose. Also partaking in much more exercise. I'm doing pliè squats everyday, some weight work and I have 6 dvd's to rotate so I hopefully won't get bored! Plus random 'fun' tennis sessions :)

I am really trying to be determined this time!
PS: Congratz on the 36lb loss! So jealous!

Diary defiantly..

How about doing some volunteering?? Saves you being board and looks good on your CV!!

volunteering is good, will get you out of the house. also maybe do some DIY or stuff in your house? If you're busy you're not thinking about food and housework definitely burns calories.

keep loads of bits of fruit and low cal snacks in the house, that way if you feel peckish you will be feeding the hunger and not harming your diet at the same time.

also, dont forget water, drink it when you feel hungry, i used to mistake hunger for just wanting a drink :)

Thanks for all the advice ^_^

I have fruit everywhere, no crisps/sweets/etc. It's just I'll nibble something then still think of food and being hungry so I'll be looking for more and I have to consciously think about resisting. I will bear the water tip in mind too :)

Not sure about volunteering, I will have to check it and see if the job centre will moan or if it'll affect my benefit and stuff.

I consider myself to be creative, and I like writing. But its like, if I think about writing/creating, I cant come up with anything to write/create! GAH!

I'd definitely gain weight if I didn't work. As long as I have breakfast I don't feel hungry at work but when I'm at home... I just love having nibbles when I'm sat down watching TV or whatever. Sometimes eating fruit just doesn't hit the spot!!

For sweet cravings I find that Options hot chocolates help... they fill me up and get rid of any chocolate cravings and they're really low in calories and come in loads of flavours (the Caribbean coconut one is my current favourite).

For savoury cravings I eat things like Melba toasts... they have hardly any calories in them, you can have 10 for under 100 calories, with a bit of low fat soft cheese, takes the edge off my urge to nibble!

Thanks a lot for the tips Happypear :)

Normally I'm not keen on hot chocolate (only choccy product I dont like!) but will defo check out the flavours next time I shop. Sounds interesting!

Didnt think of melba toasts. Can you get them in packs at the supermarket? Vaguely recall trying it once - small, golden, crunchy slices yes?!

Volunteering doesnt really affect your benefits as long as you're not being paid expenses, though they do give you a bit of a hard time about it.
