Hi an thinking of getting one of those Actifry thingies. Anyone know if you can do free SW chips in it? Tku

No idea what it is lol. How does it cook the chips??

Depends what oil because in my SW book it says 1tbsp of any oil is 6 syns. I use frylight to cook my chips, have you tried cooking chips using the method SW suggest xx

Hi yeh I think I will stick with the oven! Just googled it there and it seems it takes the same amount of time.

You can use the actifry to cook chips with fry light. They are yummy. If you type in actifry on search you will find the other threads on this :)

I bought an actifry last week and the chips are 100 times better than the SW chips I tried to make in the oven. I generally use the oil as my syns and split between me, husband and son it only works out 2 syns per person then. They are soooo delicious :)

im thinking about getting one too - can someone tell me how big they are? could i do chips for a greedy family of 4 - they look small in any pics ive seen

Chips in the actifry are lovely and we think come out better when you use fry light instead of oil. We also do little potatoes in there and throw in some garlic cloves and tomatoes. We've done a few rice stir frys too which weren't too bad but needed oil, I think it may have stuck with fry light . Spent ages deciding whether it was worth the money and it's one if the best inventions ever. Certainly had our money's worth. Going to try the celeriac chips that seem to be popular at the moment as soon as we can... If we can find the celeriac!

I'm on my second one & wouldn't be without it. I do my SW chips in it. I usually 'dry' fry them for 5 mins 1st., then spray & then spray again after about 15mins. OH didn't notice that I hadn't used oil, even commented how crisp they were!

I make slim/world chips just use spay-light 40 mins crispy and cooked perfect :) i also stick my quorn sausages in with the chips,

Anyone thinking of getting an actifry that doesn't have one comet are doing them down to £109 I just got the other day! Much less hassle than trying to make syn free chips in oven, and having option to use fry light, extra virgin olive oil ( can use 1 tablespoon as a b choice) and lots of seasonings! also 100g tesco light choice chips 2syns per 100g and no oils/sprays required just throw them in 20 mins and it's ready to nibble on perfect if you don't have a lot of time or if u have spare syns. The regular actifry holds up to 1kg and family size 1.5kg as far as I know. A bit expensive but worth the investment I think :)

Hi, I love my Actifry. I agree that SW chips are much easier in it. Haven't tried spraying again half way through cooking - so will try that next time - good tip! I have tried doing stir-frys in it, just put a bag of shop bought stir-fry in and I thought it was really nice, also really nice if you cook some chicken & bacon cubes for about 10-15 mins before you add veg.

I've got the normal sized one, and I find that it does enough chips for two of us in one go - but that does give us a good half plate full each!!!
