Sad day :(

Today is a very sad day. We've had to say goodbye to our gorgeous 26year old Irish Cob! Humphrey has been part of our family for 17 years and the time had come where it wasn't fair to let him struggle anymore. He truly is a horse of a lifetime :(
xxxx RIP Humphrey Himself xxxx

That's so sad. I never really understood the horsey thing until I met a friend of mine and I know how upsetting it can be.
Hope you feel better soon.

Oh god. That is just so awful. I am in tears for you. That horrid, empty, almost hollow feeling is dreadful.

We have gone through this so many times and I always hold my babes and stroke them and talk to them as they go, but no matter how many times it never gets easier. My 2 old ladies are 26 and 34 yeas old and I dread the day.

The only consolation is that we can do it for them and it is the final act of love and true respect that we can give them. It is the act of a true animal lover to know the right day to say goodbye.

I send you my love. If you were here in Spain I would share mine with you.

R.I.P.Humphrey.............galloping with the angels.

RIP Humphrey.

I really feel for you. It is truly awful. It will get easier. I fall in love with animals too quick <3

Can't believe its been a week since he 'went', it still doesn't even seem real :( xx hope you're running free and enjoying racing with Bugs and Puppy xx

He will be and who knows he might be running with some of mine. Most especially Paul's horse Rocky who was a star. He was off no particular breeding. He was bought out of Portugal where he was pulling a cart and went on to do junior dressage with a young friend and then"taught" Paul to ride and gave him so much confidence he will now ride anything. He was 30 years old.

I would love to think of them being together. 2 old gentlemen, young again and galloping to their hearts content. No more arthritic joints, no more Cushings disease.

hugs xxxxx

I am so sorry for your loss Welshtigger. Horses are such spiritual animals. To have had Humphry in your life will, no doubt, have been a true joy. They give so much more than they take and have a gentleness and understanding of others that we can only hope to emulate. Hold tight to your wonderful memeories and know that love bonds can never be broken. Healing and strength xxx

I've only just seen this! I'm sorry you had to make that decision but you can take comfort in the fact that you did what was best for him.

I had to do the same a few years ago for our first pony, a Connemara called Bumble. He had been with us since he was 10 and was 28 when he was put to sleep x
