Hey everyone I thought I would just say hello, I have been a member of minimins for a while now but been through weight watchers discover diet, the pro points one and slimming world and haven't really got anywhere. I bought the Dukan Diet book a couple of weeks ago now, and started on 24th July. I lost 4lbs in 6 days on the attack diet which I was very happy with and have now been doing cruise stage for 5 days. I am actually really enjoying it and not finding it difficult at all as I haven't been feeling hungry at all. I am so happy that there is a Dukan section for this site and have found some of your posts very helpful. I only get weighed once a week so am very excited to see what I will weigh on Saturday after my first week of cruise :)

Glad your enjoying it!" :)

Hi Charmangel.

I love it too, I can't believe I have managed to go on so long - I normally have no will power. I started on 24th July too, I lost 7lbs on Attack phase did it for 5 days (I would have normally said STUCK IT FOR DAYS!). But so far I have not been hungry, the only day I felt bad was day 3 and that was only a headache - took some ibroprofen and it went after half hour! I have so much more energy too.

I weighed this morning and have lost another 1.5lbs:)

I have done WW and SW to no avail. This diet is definately suiting me. Like me, you must be so proud of yourself, keep up the good work and may Dukan rule!!!!:D

Yeah I was very similar to you I had a stinking headache on day 2 or 3 and just took some tablets, I didn't mind it as I knew that this was one of the things you could get at the start of this diet. With other diets I was always thinking of ways I could cheat the system... like with weight watchers I wouldn't eat much in the morning and save points for the evening to have a good dinner and then snack on crisps. This would mean I would be always living for the evening and I knew that it wasn't a healthy diet and would get really bad tummy aches and wind. Since I have been doing this diet my relationship with food has completely changed I no longer think about when I can have crisps and stuff and my health seems so much better my stomach doesn't hurt at night or the morning and the wind has deff stopped. Before starting the diet I thought I wouldn't like the oatbran but I love it for my breakfast with yoghurt.. it reminds me of crumble lol

I was just wondering how people get on if they have to eat out?

If at all possible I chose the restaurant myself, so I can chose grilled chicken or tandoori, or fish/steak with salad or veg. No chips or potatoes. No bread, no desert.

If it's impossible to find a dukan item on the menu, I try to chose the higher fat items rather than carbs - so cheese rather than rice, or pork before pasta.

Hi
Im loving the diet too and find it easy to stick to Ive lost 7lb since starting on 24/7 and even had a small wobble one evening following an unexpected stressful incident!
Like you ive done ww and sw but never get anywhere!! Ive stopped craving the things that are bad and its not hard to say no which is great!!!
Good luck on your weight loss journey

Thanks everybody! Thanks Atropos, Is there an eating out thread at all with suggestions of meals out and certain restaurants? I went out on Sunday night on a PV day and we went to nandos, we had half a chicken but took off the skin and also a side of ratatouille which was celery, onions, courgette in a tomato type sauce but i'm wondering what hidden extras were in it so should have had maybe just a side salad.

Looking at the figures for it what do people think seems to be a lot of sugar?

Energy (Kcal) 185.4 Total Carbohydrates (g) 11.29
Protein (g) 2.21 Carbohydrates - Sugar (g) 7.79
Total Fat (g) 13.01 Salt EQ (g) 0.9
Saturated Fat (g) 1.85 Fibre (g) 7.38

Nandos seems to a popular choice for Dukaneers.

I haven't been in for years, (because I hate having to order at a counter and save a table simultaneously - it really discriminates against single diners - are we supposed to abandon our bags on a table to be sure it will be there when we get back from queing at the counter?)

Now - Are these the figures per serving or per 100 g?

The sugar may well be just the natural fructose in the tomatos and onions, in which case its not a bad choice - although a salad with dressing on the side would probably be better.

To be honest I think thats per portion.

I can understand your frustration, I wouldn't go there if I was having a nice meal out, we only go there after my other half has played he's american football games as we meet people out for drinks and its a quick bite.. well quicker than most restaurants as we can't have other fast foods such as mcdonalds, KFC etc where the rest of the team would go.

I really want to go to a seafood restaurant we have a lochfyne here where I live I should try it sometime but will leave it for a special occasion as its expensive... especially as I would like to try lobster as I haven't done so before.

Omelettes are another good choice, or seafood platters (if such a thing can be had...).

I personally avoid Italian, Chinese and Indian because the few (if any) things appropriate for me aren't what I want to eat! So, like Atropos, I try to impose MY choice of restaurant. (Hey anyone who wants to eat out with me, likes me, and knows I need to lose weight so wants to HELP me :D).

I always check out the menu beforehand, decide what I'm having, and often let someone else order for me. Ordering FIRST is a good thing too so that you're not swayed by other people's choices! Just stick to your guns and the feeling is wonderful!

Hi and welcome Charmangel....

i'm terrified of eating out - but i totally love this diet - i dont really feel i am on a diet because i am not hungry

... and that's the whole beauty of it :D

I haven't been feeling hungry either... I kinda have to push myself to eat as I worry I'm not eating enough.. I've also started doing Zumba Fitness on the Wii too, so I deff need to make sure I eat enough because they tires you out lol

glad its not just me then - i've had 4 chicken thighs (at around 1pm) today..... and its now 18.20.... and iam still stuffed

I only had a yoghurt this morning and didnt eat anything till gone 3pm... so then I cooked one of my low fat burgers with a griddled egg on top hehe I still haven't eaten dinner yet but the other half is going to bring some fish back yummmm then for dessert another yoghurt with my oatbran. Going to do my zumba tomorrow too... I hope I have a loss this week but I hear the first week of cruise is touch and go
