Attack lazy girl giving dukan a go :)

graciebabes

will hit target this time
so decided to have a go at the infamous dukan diet after hearing raving reviews and promises of quick losses! purchased the book and read it up to the consolidation phase so far, obviously plan to finish reading once i've complete both attack and cruise.. if i make it haha!

anyway, here is my first day's diary.. btw i plan to do attack for 5 days as long as i have lost a fair amount, if not i may increase to 7 or even 10.

brunch:
4 bacon medallions - all fat trimmed off
onken fat free vanilla yoghurt

snack:
more onken vanilla fat free yoghurt

dinner:
2 chicken breasts
2 bacon medallions - all fat trimmed off

supper:
onken fat free vanilla yoghurt
1.5 tbsp oat bran mixed in

exercise:
shift at work

Welcome and good luck, I started a weeek ago and after 4 days I went on to Cruise. Meal plans seems good, not sure about all that bacon even though they're medallions.
This is that a "veteran" dieter put in my diary: "Bacon twice? (I love it too, but... you might find its salt impacts on your loss as you near your target perhaps)."
Hope this helps :)

your bacon and yoghurt are inappropriate really. I'd recommend you read through the FAQ on the main dukan board.

You might not want to bother though if you're going to just go back to WW anyway...

Well I've bought the book and read it. It says 'fat free flavoured yoghurts' is that not what onken fat free vanilla would be classified as? And as for the bacon that's in the book too stating lean, without fat. Don't really know what to trust.. I spend the money an read the book yet half of it doesn't seem to be correct??

Please check out the FAQ thread. At your weight, 3 days attack is fine (5 maximum). Longer periods of attack are for the heavily obese. The UK official website will tell you (for free) via its calculator how long you should do.

Your menu isn't protein heavy enough and very dairy related. OK perhaps on attack, but check other people's menus to see how better to eat on Dukan perhaps.

Bacon is a recent addition so as previously banned, "with moderation" would be the term perhaps and stop if you don't lose weight (salt... you're near normal bmi etc.)

The book is a translation of a French book written years ago, with a few (alas not enough!) updates. The base info is correct but you'll get comments from other people's experience here if you want them!

Hiya, thanks for the replies didn't mean to sound abrupt I'm just a little annoyed I bought the book when it seems I could've got all the info off here.. Doh! Will check out the FAQs.

Weighed in this morning at 165lbs so 4lbs down from my starting weight of 169.. Woooohooo! This deffo makes missing out on my favouritest carbs worth it hehe..

Fat free sugar free for yogurt, there are surprisingly few around.
This site isnt a substitute for the book, its great that you have it and have read it.

Well done on the loss.

Gracie the book is fine - it will give you the background info and 'philosophy' of the diet. Re the yoghurt: yes he says flavoured but everything needs to be not only fat-free but also added sugar free AND ideally less than 40 cal per 100gr (this info from his French site). That's where the likes of Onken or Activia are inadvisable - the added sugar. Our brands here are different to the French ones he had to hand when he wrote book. So in the translation they took out the brand names but left in 'flavoured yoghurt' when really he was saying 'Sveltesse yoghurt in the flavours Vanilla or Lemon only'

Good luck!

aww thanks for that guys, i must have missed that in the book! the onken tap has run dry now anyway and i shall refrain from going and buying any more! second day today looking like this..

breakfast:
leftover bacon - i know i shouldn't have but it was the last bit and i'm the only one who eats it in the house.. plus hate seeing food go to waste lol ;)

lunch:
2 chicken breasts
sugar free jelly pot

dinner:
homemade burgers - extra lean mince beef and a little garlic, onion + chilli powder
sugar free jelly pot

supper:
chicken breast

exercise:
shift at work

not sure how to get my oatbran in.. had it in my yoghurt yesterday. how do you make this galette thing people are talking about? and what does it actually taste like?

The galette is like a pancake. I add some skimmed milk to the mixture as otherwise it breaks when you try to flip it over but this is how I do mine:
Directions

Put oat bran in a bowl, add non-fat fromage grais or quark and one egg.

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and pour on to a non stick pan that has been greased beforehand with a few drops of oil then wiped with kitchen paper.

Cook for 2-3 minutes each side.

Makes one serving/pancake

It tastes absolutely gorgeous and you can use it for savoury or sweet. Try to mix some 0% fat Greek yoghurt with some vanille extract and "butter" your pancake with it. Yummy! :D

thank you very much mirjam! i will be trying this either for supper or for my afternoon snack today :) x

Gallettes, muffins etc are good to have.

If you found you didnt have time you could always add it to the hamburgers.

Hi hun,

Good luck with Dukan!

I started on Tuesday, but unfortunately caved last night and had kit kat and toast (I know, I know, tres bad!)
But I'm back on it again this morning and hope to stick with attack until Tuesday :)

Like others have said, be sure to eat lots of protein.

Good Luck! x

ooh the muffins sound good, anyone got a recipe for those? and do you think it'd make the burgers gritty? may have to consider doing this as i doubt i'll be hungry enough for an afternoon snack now x

You really shouldn't be eating onion in Attack - it should be used for flavouring only and not eaten.
HTH.
