Help needed please!!

I have made icecream with it and it's gorgeous.

My guess is that if you wanted to freeze it as Greek Yog in order to keep it and then defrost it, it wouldn't work - probably go all watery.

Thanks K! You know what, that makes perfect sense! Why didn't I think of that! Doh! What do you put in it when you make ice cream? I was thinking a few strawbs and a couple of spoons of sweetener then popping it through the blender...??? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!! :) thanks again!x

I haven't blended fruit with it as it would need to be synned and I like my fruit to be free. I have done a kinda raspberry one with vanilla essence and sweetener.

I have also done plain ones like vanilla essence and sweetener, or cocoa & sweetener. Then got more adventurous by adding crushed Maltesers - mmmmmm

There is an icecream thread that I started after I bought my icecream maker.
Saying that it hasn't been out recently!!

I also froze yogurts like muller light and Onken - they were lovely too. And also tofu

WOW crushed malteaser one sounds lush! I may have to try that when I see what these ones turn out like! I've made a vanilla one and an options caramel one.

I'm so glad I checked before I made it though as I would have blended fruit and made it that way. Why would it have to be synned? I've never been told that! X

I'm probably not the best to ask, but there's loads on this site about it. I have learnt so much since being on this site.

Fruit needs to be synned when cooked or pureed/blitzed or juiced. I think (and please someone - Circes or Britmumincanada- jump in to correct me if I'm wrong) it's to do with changing it's natural fibrous state, and that you could eat an awful lot more of it than you would if it were whole.

Besides Chocolate malteser ice-cream is so much better- lol. Also I made a kinda bounty one using coconut essence and chocolate - mmmmmm
Must get my icecream maker out

Thanks for your help! My boyfriend thought it might be something like that! It (kind of) makes sense! It's not fair tho! Lol!

Ooooh coconut sounds lovely too! I don't have an ice cream maker, I've just used a mixing bowl then my sons weaning pots for freezing them for handy little portions! Hehe! Do you think they'll be ok??x

It's because you would eat more blended fruit ,than if you were to eat the piece of fruit as part of a meal. it doesn't change it's state,it's to stop you over eating fruit x

Yes you can eat as much free fruit as you like.... But if you had a portion of fresh strawbs (for example) that would prob be about 7 or so but if you blended some strawbs to get a decent amount you would need 3 or 4 times that amount so the content would be lots more... It's like fresh squeezed orange juice .... Oranges are free but juice (even natural fresh squeezed) is synned due to the amount you would need to use.

If I were you if I was only using a portion I would class it as free but if I was using a lot more I would syn it iykwim?

I haven't made it like this - but imagine it would work provided you stir it, otherwise I think it crystallises or similar. The ICECREAM maker continually stirs whilst freezing, resulting in lovely instant soft icecream.
Give it a go and see how you go hun - its all a learning curve

I found this for you - reckon it's a great explanation and makes tonnes of sense (btw I could easily eat more than 7 strawberries lol - a punnet at least - also strawbs contain natural salicylates which is found in aspirin )
