HI all i am looking for some advice, I have a huge amount of weight to loose and have been trying on and off for a couple of years.
I started off following a couple of different vlcd but found them way to hard.

I am now looking at following sw is this better than ww?

Also with all the info on here is it possible to follow sw without joining as i know because of work patterns i would be unable to join a group and would have to do it online anway.

Also could someone give me an idea what the sw plan is like, whats involved etc

thanks in advance

Hi Louise

I'm new to slimming World myself(this is day 5 for me) I'm not joining either but I have been on Ebay and bought the starter pack which I am waiting on arriving!

In the meantime I am following the free 7-day trial menu on the SW website- so far so good. It's very easy to follow and I'm really enjoying it and don't feel like i'm dieting. Instead I feel like I'm filling my body with good fuel, i've honestly not felt like I'm going without.(Ok it is early days but it's something I know I can stick with and not get bored of)

Maybe the trial would be a good thing for you to do to get a feel for SW? I'm still learning about it and won't fully understand it until the books arrive but just thought I'd share my experience with you so far!

Good Luck

thanks for your quick reply, i was thinking about going along to a group and buying the books etc and then following it at home but i was worried that with out having access to their website I wouldnt be getting all of the info that I need to follow the diet but im assuming that maybe you can?

It sounds as though you are getting on well, thanks for sharing your advice,

good luck x

You can still get updates from here and also the sw magazine which you can buy in the supermarkets. I don't go to a class at the moment either, but I get by.

I'm fairly new to slimming world, but have some advice. Slimming world is more of food optimisations and eating healthier. You are allowed a daily amount of treats (SW language=syns) and so it is quite flexible.

If you join online you will get access to all syn values. However I would really recommmend you going to the classes if you are serious about losing the weight. It really does encourage you to lose weight, my SW consultant is a bit intimidating if you've gained a few pounds one week and wants you to spill what you've been eating wrong, so that for me is enough incentive to follow the plan!

I would go, at least the first few weeks, the rules are explained and you have support for the hard bit then perhaps you'd be better equipped to go it alone. Honestly it helps one lady said she kept ruining everything by nibbling in the evening, so as a group we told her to plan the nibbles, have a goodie plate in the fridge ready, well that lady lost 6lb the following week!

Well i bit the bullet and joined my local group today, a bit intimidating and seems like its going to be a bit complicated but im going to sit and read the books this afternoon and hopefully make sense of it all.

Fingers crossed it works x

Well done for joining! I'm on my 3rd try at SW (I put it on back on but toally down to myself). I know it well enough to do it at all but as said by others definitely go until you get your head around it all. Personally, I used to love staying for Image Therapy, I found it really encouraging & motivating, thats what I miss the most. But I'm also happy doing it myself, I have VERY good scales which are as reliable as the SW scales so I know they're accurate x

I agree Shirleen, there's a lady in my group who has problems with her autistic toddler getting her up in the middle of the night and she would snack on whatever was available and really struggled to lose but we all gave her suggestions such as cottage cheese with pineapple and scan bran (1 syn scan bran and 1 syn for 100g of c/c), making up extra spag bol/chilli etc and she came in the following week and lost 5lbs and the week after that lost 4.5lbs!
