Maintenance

I am a little worried as I am getting nearer to my goal weight, but as I read more and more threads it seems that a lot of people have a tendency to put their weight back on. Why is this? Does this mean that the maintenance plan does not work? I am worried as I really do not want to put on what I have lost. Can anyone please reassure me?

I too have noticed that there are so many people on here who are "restarters", some many times over! I'm curious to read what has made them put the weight back on.

Sorry, no advice for you, I'm a first-timer and hope to never be back :) Will be keeping an eye on your thread tho!

Thank you - didn't want to sound negative - it was just a common trend that I was beginning to notice. Glad I wasn't the only one to notice. Good luck to you too.

Im one of thoses who have re-gained the weight, purely because I didnt follow the maintenance plan, and went back to eating rubbish again. Its so important to work up the steps.

It's not down to maintenance nor working. It's down to the person going back to old habits. It doesn't matter what diet you do if you go back to your pre diet habits you'll regain

If you look at sw/WW forums there ate just as many restarters there too

Yeah, I sort of thought that would be the issue. I'm sure if I go back to my old habits after I reach goal I'll gain all my weight back in no time flat! Hopefully, during this time on SS where there are no calories to count or meals to weight, etc. nothing to distract me, I will learn something about why I overeat the way I do and then when I do reach goal I will be aware enough of my problem not to suffer relapse - or at least if I start to go back to the old ways, I'll have the presence of mind to stop myself before I do too much damage :) I suppose that's all any of us can strive to achieve...

I have lost and gained many times over the years , every time it was due to me going back to overeating. I am confident the maintenance plan will work.
