Hey, well done on making the first step. Try not to be hard on yourself about your starting weight because the important thing is the decision has been made to change it. Every single person on here felt it was time to change whether they had 10lbs to lose or a few hundred. (I'm on my phone so can't see your starting weight If you have published it, that is).
Looking forward to sharing your experiences and trust me when I say there is ALWAYS support on here.

(sometimes I just post a random rant just to get it off my chest - brilliant they are. Haha)

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is: welcome!!!!!

Hi and welcome! You will love SW!!

By the way I think you need to change your profile - it shows you being 17.5 lbs starting weight as the weights are in pounds not stones. I am assuming here that you meant 17 and a half stone

Best of luck to you :):) x

Thanks to everyone who replied. I feel better knowing that there are people out there who understand how it feels to be too heavy! I agree - it doesn't matter how much or little we need to loose but it's good to know that there are others who understand :). I don't talk about my weight much to hubby because he can eat loads and not put on much weight.

Am looking forward to my first week on sw - the leader explained the extra easy plan but I prefer the look of the original and green plan so I might give them a go. I'm not sure I could follow the extra easy - it looks too easy!

I have put in my profile weight in thinking it was stones and just realised it was in pounds!

Hello,

I am on my 2nd week, my start weight was 17 stone and 1/2 lb so I know how you feel, you have made the right decision by starting SW....

I am eating all the time now on SW but it is healthy food not chocolate or sweets like I used too.

I lost 2.5lbs this week, but my leader had told me to eat more (I should have lost around 3-4lbs in my first week) as I was feeling hungry inbetween meals, so I snack on fruit and low fat yoghurts.

Hope this helps x

Hi Sarah, thanks for your support and taking the time to reply- it is hard when you see your initial weight and seems like theres a mountain to climb but the leader said that "you never see that weight again after the first week"! I thought that was a good positive and am going to think about that.

I think 2.5lbs is a great weight loss!! and even better is that your leader said to eat more to loose even more weight. I am a bit scared of the 'free' eating e.g. can we really eat free foods between meals? but am going to try and follow the plan as it says in the book and trust that it works. I am used to diets that say small and often but I can never stick to small (although I don't have too much trouble with often!).

No problem at all hun, it is nice that we can support each other & help if need be.....

On a usual day I have the following:

B/fast - 2 x weetabix (Healthy B) & SS milk (Healthy A)
Snack - Slices of ham/beef/chicken
Lunch - Pasta with passata, peppers & sweetcorn, add meat if you want.
Snack - Muller light yoghurt & pineapple
Dinner - Spaghetti Bolognese SW recipe

And I still will have up to 15 syns to use :)

I plan my meals the day before so I am prepared then I can keep on track!!

Any problems let me know & I can help x x :talk017:

Thanks Sarah for your help. I have found it useful and finding this extra easy not too bad. Your food list was helpful and am following a similar kind of day - am not too sure about the syns, I know the leader said we can have up to 15 a day but I keep thinking that I'll never loose weight! Am going to follow it tho for the first week at least to see - too many people say it works for it not to. M x

I'm thinking SW is the way for me too so it's interesting to read your stories probably got a lot to lose but it all starts with the first step... Will keep up with this link

Hiya,im on my first week at slimming world too.Im also down about my starting weight,i nearly fell of the scales when i saw the numbers! But dont dispair, once the numbers on the scales start to fall, think of how good you will feel! I cant wait to see a lower number next week :)

Hi, I'm starting back on the plan tomorrow and can't wait! You'll be surprised at how much you can eat but still lose weight. I did SW about 15years ago and lost 6.5st in about 8mths so it really does work.

I've spectacularly fallen off the SW wagon since and put it all back on :-( Now with a proposal looking likely in the next few months I need to start in preparation for the big day so tomorrow is the beginning of a brand new me!

Good luck and keep us up to date with your progress as we're all in this together xx

Welcome and good luck with your journey. It will probably take a few weeks of getting used to the plan and thinking you can't eat all of this and loose weight. You just have to remember the golden rule. Eat until your full NOT until your stuffed. You'll find as you start loosing that your appetite will probably decrease.

The thing I love about SW if the free food and the syns. I love that if I'm having the munchies I can eat and eat fruit and other free stuff and that's fine but if I have a craving for say chocolate its not banned. I just have to make the right choice. Like today I've eaten pringles, a chocolate mini milk, chocolate weetabix and some other synned stuff but I'm still within my syns.

One thing I would recommend is, especially during the first few weeks, keeping a diary, on here, on paper or both. And make sure someone looks at it as sometimes it can be easy to loose track of what your eating. I found that when I stopped keeping one I didn't loose as well so a couple of days ago restarted and I'm already seeing the difference even though no-one looks at it.

Hey welcome to sw x
When i started in may i weighed in at 17st5lbs and now i am 15st10lbs so it does work. Some weeks are good for me where i lose 2lbs and other weeks i lose half a lb but i keep at it as its half a lb nearer to my target and a healthier me x

I was planning on going to SW class tonight but work got in the way so I have a week to figure it out and look to joining next week. A diary sounds like a good place to start so hopefully will find the time tomorrow to start one - thanks for your comments

Hi to everyone - I have found all the comments really helpful. I agree - it's awful facing up to those numbers! - I've got my first weigh in tomorrow and although I have really followed the plan am not convinced it's made any difference :sigh:

I'll pop back on tomorrow and post my weight (loss hopefully). M x

Hope it goes well, I need to make some time to get to grips with the principles of SW so great that you're at the start too. Good luck x

Hi Muti-mum and all,

I can't believe I am writing this but on my weigh in at sw last night I lost half a stone! am down to 16.12 so under the 17 mark. I am amazed at this as I have never had such a good loss, ever!
