Bizarre red tape stuff I had to follow this morning

So I go into a place of work. Someone asks if I can copy some CDs for them. I say they could do it...that's fine. They say no, they aren't allowed to. Okay...I'm not confused yet.

So I go to administration and tell them I need to copy some CD, could I use their computer. Oh no, "No CDs are allowed to be copied".

Fair enough, but this is my CD. I wrote the music, I own the copyright.

That's not enough evidently. I had to have permission on letterheaded paper.

So I came home, got myself some of my own letterheaded paper, wrote myself a letter saying that I give myself permission to copy my own CD and take it back to them.

:clap: :clap: Yes...success!

Though I applaud their stance on copyright I did find it rather bizarre

That would have driven me bonkers!!

I cannot bear red tape in any shape or form.

I'm just disappointed that you didn't talk it over with yourself first. You should have sat yourself down, made yourself comfy, possibly a cup of tea or similar and then you should have explained to yourself the complexities of the situation. Then, you could have thought it through and made an informed decision which you could then have passed on to yourself.

Thats the way to do it!

Now, if you were working within the NHS, you could also have had a 3 hour long meeting with yourself, not come to any conclusions by the end of it, and then employed a manager on a 6 figure salary to come up with some guidelines re your CD and the copying of said item. Which you would not have been allowed to do. And then the manager employed by you would have made you redundant, due to lack of funds.

Thank goodness I don't work for the NHS. Would drive me nuts!
