29points (roughly how many calories is that)

I was just wondering how many calories does 29points roughly equate to (just an estimate)

is it 1200 or maybe 1300 calories?

I'm looking to burn roughly 500-1000 calories a day but my hubby said if I'm only eating 1200 calories a day then that's suicide and I might end up giving myself migraines (I do suffer with them though less then I used too)

We were talking about The Biggest Loser , and how they have to burn something like 6000calories (not sure it that's per day) even with some of them only eating 1200 calories a day or one I think (male) was on 1800 calories

Anyway my hubby said that most of them are morbidly obese and that they are in a controlled environment and are monitored all the time so its ok for them to burn that much while eating so little.

I don't want to go to those extremes but surely 500-1000 calories a day (4-6 times a week) is not going to kill me, especially if I eat all my points + 1 or 2 extra which I do about 4-5 times a week

What do you guys think and does anyone else watch the show?

What are you planning on doing that's going to burn 1000 calories in a day? Thats a looooooot. I do 20 mins on the cross trainer and only burn 150 (according to the machine), 25 on the treadmill and burn 150 (including short runs of about 2 minutes every 5 minutes) and 20 mins on the bike and lose 100. So 350 calories altogether and that takes over an hour. I do that 3 or 4 times a week.

If you use the basis that 40 calories is a point, it's 1160 calories a day. However, WW assumes you're going to supplement this with free fruit and veg, probably bringing you to about 1300? And if they assume you're dispersing your weeklies each day it brings you up to about 1580.

But your partner is right. Its really really important not to push yourself. Burning 1000 calories in a single sitting is loads. Don't undertake anything that intensive without consulting a trainer.

If nothing else if you burn 1000 calories a day and only eat 1500 you're not going to have the energy to move!

Well I'm not going to be doing it all in one go (thankgod)

I don't work at the moment (am looking) but while I have some free time on my hands outside of looking for work, I like to go on the Wii and also go to the gym 3 times a week.

I never know if the Wii Fit is that accurate but today so far, I have burnt 420 calories on the Wii just by doing the step while watching telly and I plan to do some more later. Thats about 2hrs of exercise on the Wii to get to 420 calories

I do some about hr after breakfast and some after lunch and then some more in the evening if I feel like it.

At the gym I go on the treadmill and do some cycling and rowing. I'm not good at running for long periods of time, but I usually burn about 300+ calories on the treadmill doing a few sprints and a lot of uphill walking at a fast pace. On the cycling machine its around 200-250+ calories (can't remember exact amounts) do that for about 30mins at resistance 4 or 5 (depending on how I feel)

Hoping to get E A Sports Active 2 on the weekend (have E A Sports the first one and the more workouts and loved them) , If I do then I'm gona be using that at least 5 times a week. As I can't do much arm work at the gym due to my bad shoulders etc I was thinking of cancelling the gym membership and just using E A Sports 2 especially as I love working out at home, and hate going out when its too hot..

Thats about it, 500-1000 calories is doable even if you do work its just finding the time which I know a lot of people don't have..

I'm just worried about overdoing it and burning off to many calories especially considering how few I'm taking in.

wow thats a lot of calories burned. I wouldnt have the time for that unfortunately. I leave my house at 8 in the morning and get home around 7 (sometimes 8) in the evening, couldnt fit all that in lol. Just dont overdo it chick, start out burning 500 maybe for a week and see if it makes a diff? take it up a notch slowly as yu lose weight I'd say! if there's 40 cals roughly in a point, does that mean we're eating 1160 cals a day, yeah? rounded up to 1200 maybe? just interesting to know...

Thanks, that's what my hubby said, take it slowly and build up to more calories if I feel I can handle it.. He also said not to forget the water intake after each workout which I sometimes forget.

Had one migraine this year so far (my own fault) and don't need anymore due to working out to much had one every 3-5 weeks or so when younger and don't want to go back to that ever (if possible)

Gona start with 400-500 a day for a week and then maybe up it by 50-100 calories a day for the next week and so on and see how I get on, I do hope that it will make a difference, but I don't want to be doing so much that it is hard to maintain especially when I eventually hit gold (fingers crossed is only 3-4months away at most)..

I'd say if your burning so much to make sure you eat some aps to make up for it! It's alot though! Maybe do a 1000 burn 1 or 2 times a week and 2 500 days?

i have to be careful with this, if i exercise too much and don't eat some of the APs then i don't lose at all.
my body slams on goes into panic mode and it holds on to the weight.

even on the biggest loser if they over exercise and don't increase their calories they don't lose either, seen it a few times.

i would say build up slowly because if you start so high you're body will get used to it and it's going to be very difficult the nearer you get to you're goal weight.

well the simple solution to this would be to eat your AP... maybe half of them to start with and see how you go.. you maybe don't want to eat all of them and see it as wasted effort, but do eat some of them, because is important your body has enough food to metabolise xx
