GG: getting strong + hot

Have signed up for SW online this week and trying to get to grips mainly with the EE plan. After reading a sticky on here, the penny dropped about filling your plate with 1/3 superfree foods - before then I couldn't work out how anyone was going to lose anything more than the odd pound - so thanks!

Still don't understand why, when free foods include fat free dairy, you have to count milk in your tea if it's skimmed. Or is this not the case?

Have now had a good clean out of the fridge and freezer and think only relatively healthy food remains after shops at Aldi and Asda. Thanks to the person who recommended chopped frozen leeks at Asda for 75p. It's a bargain - AND possibly more importantly - I won't end up throwing away unused leeks from the bottom of the crisper.

Breakfast today was a half a banana before my workout then a yoghurt, berries and 28g of porridge oats for proper breakfast. Just having lunch now - a plate of shredded lettuce with low fat mayo, a chicken breast and bacon grilled with 28g of parmesan very finely grated over the top. I bought some supermarket caesar dressing last night but it's vile stuff, so just stuck to regular light mayo.

I've got the makings for diet coke chicken in the fridge, as well as some leftover pasta and some dyno rod soup and cut up watermelon for this evening.

The main challenge seems to be cooking for one. I 'know' you can freeze portions, but don't really want to have the same meal four times - especially if I end up not liking it. Virtually all the recipes seem to be for four. Do others have a collection of 'one' recipes?

Small failure in the weight-loss department: I had in my diary to go to Zumba at the gym early today and ended up working until 2am so getting up before 6am wasn't going to happen. Will go tonight instead - and it was good to get a chunk of work done. Had yoghurt and blueberries with 28g of porridge oats left overnight in the fridge for breakfast with a coffee and feel set up for the day. Am going to be out around lunchtime so will pack some gammon and salad. Would like to make the light mayo runnier - not sure whether to add water or yoghurt or milk so that it mixes in. Or I could take some fruit with me. Also have some Alpen lights but am preferring not to use a chunk of syns when I could avoid it with a bit of planning.

Am really chuffed - this is day two of being COMPLETELY on SW and went to the gym yesterday for a good hour or so burning calories. I've also drunk loads of liquids today. It seems to work best when there is nothing off plan around. And I probably need some more fruit tomorrow - have oranges and new supplies of 'free' fruit yoghurts at the moment. Apples seem to work well for snacks while out and about.

I bought a packet of scan bran. Really like eating fibre and water - not interesting - but imagine it could keep you very regular with a bit of vegemite on the top. Just can't imagine getting through any more than two of them at a time. I need to do some more cooking - like putting together a coleslaw and making potato salad and 'free' hummous. Not exactly difficult - just needs doing.

Cooking a bit of gammon worked well for filling me up alongside salad, fruit and yog.

Fingers crossed for the rest of a good week with a Tuesday WI - so four more days to go.

Thanks Lottie. Went to Zumba this morning and it was really fun - and my goodness, don't you sweat! It was in the basketball part of the gym - a huge hall with about 60 women in it. The slightly weird bit was seeing guys pushing weights through the glass on either side of the hall, especially when we were doing lots of boob and behind waggling. I ache now, though.

Have made potato salad with chives and a bit of leftover gammon and eaten that with some chive cottage cheese, followed by cherries and strawberries. Will have again tomorrow with some grated carrot and green salad. Not sure yet what I'll do for a workout tomorrow ... perhaps just some aerobics work on the machines.

Nice to hear someone else doing it - have you been doing classes long? Does it seem to help with the weight loss?

I don't have an xbox but had bought Gillian Michael's first level of the Shred via itunes - need some hand weights though, before I can do that. Perhaps 1kg?

zumba at 6am ? only in london lol !!
keep up the good work, forgot how tasty berries and yogurt could be, will have to add to my shopping list next week and good idea about making own coleslaw, hummus etc .. as you say its easy enough to do - youve motivated me into making my own too ;)

No Zumba at 6am - not in my home, anyway. Although there is a 7am class at the gym on Wednesdays - quietest class of the week (wonder why?? :D ) ... could be tempted to do that.

Berries and yog (especially vanilla syn free) are lovely. Have 'ready to eat' nectarines as today's treat and trying a red day. Red days seem to be what some people on here try when they're really going for a weight loss. After last night's failure at eating out (a friend got in touch in the afternoon for a last-minute catch-up and meal) - and probably having a gazillion syns as well as the Starbucks fiasco, I really want to cancel that out.
