Dangerous packaging!

small steps

I don't usually start a thread, but I am so annoyed after scalding my hand with soup:mad:

I heated a soup last night, when I carefully opened the packet, I couldn't get the packet to fully open, I tugged and managed to pour the soup all over my hand. It was so incredibly hot:mad:

I ran the scalded hand under a tap - as I couldn't feel anything, I didn't realise I was putting my hand under hot water.... when I realised I ran soaked my hand in cold water.

I now have a very sore scalded hand:cry:

Has anyone else experienced problems with the soup packets?

Any idea what I did wrong? Is it possible to over heat the packets, so the plastic doesn't tear properly?

I am now too traumatised to have soup today!

Hi really sorry about your hand, do hope you are OK and it is not still sore. I am sure on the instructions it states to use scissors when fully opening. I have done the same but not managed to fully tip it on me but just a small amount but hurt a lot !!!!! I read the instructions and I'm sure it stated to use scissors...

If still ensure contact customer services on the diet chef website

Hope that helps

I have been wondering how I managed to scald my hand, when I have always managed to open the soup packets without any problems.

I checked the microwave at work. It is 950W, instead of 750W at home. I believe I may have over heated the packet.

Lessons learned -
:eek:use scissors to open the packets.
 Do not overheat packets

I was really impressed with the Diet Chef customer services. I emailed them and explained that I had scalded my hand and no longer wanted soups, so instead they posted some milkshakes, free of charge!
This cheered me up and retained my custom!
