digital or manual scales

i weighed myself on my digital scales this morning and weighed 12 stone 3 but then weighed myself on normal ones at the doctors and it came in at 11stone13! a difference of 4lbs! quite shocked at it really, would definitely rather see the 11's then the 12's so am considering buying a new set, the lower the amount... the closer to goal i am! :D

Lol it's a good boost isn't it, seeing it lower on other scales!

But to be honest, I think so long as you use the same set of scales consistently, it shouldn't matter. The scales I weigh in on are the scales at Boots in town, which showed me last Sunday as being 17.9. But weighing myself on my parents scales showed 17.12.

So I think so long as you use the same scales (in the same place) each week, you should get an accurate record of what you've lost.

yeh i guess so, regardless of what you weigh in at the loss is still the same, ive lost 9lbs in two days so im pretty chuffed with that :)

You don't need a set of scales to tell you when you are happy with yer weight! :) I do know what you mean though - electric tend to weigh heavier than normal ones, not sure which is correct! If you want to go by the lighter weighing ones why not, just as long as you keep with em. So you know what you've lost

I have always used digital scales, but as someone else said i dont think it matters which you use, try to wear the same clothes (light ones if possible) and weigh yourself in the same place around the same time each week.

ive actually weighed myself on a few occasions on the wii fit to, but its very often wrong and one week on my previous diet id lost 5lb and the wii scales said id gained 2lb! argh shock horror! never weighed myself on them again lol.

x

One of my pals came to my house and, since she is doing well on her diet right now, asked to check her weight on my digital scales. She gave a whoop of delight as they showed her eight pounds lighter than her own mechanical ones!

Yet these same digital scales show me as three and a half pounds heavier than my mechanical ones! I think the clinical-style scales at Boots are the most likely to be accurate but as stated before regardless of the technical accuracy they all register our losses (and gains...) so it doesn't really matter.

It doesnt matter what kind they are, digital or otherwise, the thing is using the same ones, you could buy 10 sets of scales and youd probably register 10 different weights.

the wiifit is notoriously bad. I used to weight myself on a daily basis and i could go up 5 one day, up 3, then down 3... when my own scales said I was staying roughly the same. (I don't normally weigh daily i did it for comparison)

I bought myself some talking digital scales and had them shipped over from America. They were crap and I've binned them now.

They kept saying 'one person at a time please', the cheek :D

as long as ur sticking to the same set of scales ur weight loss is being recorded correctly, bet it was great looking at ur doc scales tho gd luck on ur weight loss goal onwards and downwards x

my scales are bobbins, if i get on and off a couple times it will give a different reading each time, they are machanical scales

As with all scales, it all comes down to the position of your feet and how your weight is distributed (leaning forward/back or rocking).

I try to make sure my feet are in the same place each time, I step on the scales 3 times and take the heaviest of the 3 rounding it up to the nearest lb :D

if i did that then im gaining on exante, lol

each time i set it to zero but when i get off its always a few pounds over the zero and each time i zero it and get back on it just reads higher and higher and higher, lol

LOL MrMojo - I love it. Nearly bought talking scales many years ago but had second thoughts! I never fluctuated much back then but every lb was an anxiety!!

Have only put weight on slowly over the last five years. Enough!! I cry!!

Personally I hold on to the wall and lean to the right. Find it knocks off a lb!!

well i went and got new scales, got on and off them 4 times in the shop, they gave the same reading each time so im happy, lol
