Hi guys been reading some of your posts and you've inspired me to look at the Cambridge diet. I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant so wouldn't be starting till after the baby comes. just wondering if anyone knows how soon after birth could i start as i am also going to be a bridesmaid in may 2012 and no way can i do that while being so big. I want to make plans now as will need to put past money to pay for it although i think its a lot cheaper on what i spend now on all the junk food and takeaways that i don't actually like but seems to want. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Monica

First of all I wish u a good and happy time giving birth :)

If you will be breast feeding I dont think you can be on the CD as its very low in calorie, and you need healthy food for you and your baby but u may ask one of the consultants. . If your not going to breast feed you can start the diet anytime after birth, but give ur self at least a couple of weeks to rest and get used to the baby and the new routine.

it Also depends how much weight you want to lose if its a stone or two I think you will only need 6 - 8 weeks.
As long as you'v got the willpower u will lose that weight and be the happiest bridesmaid in the wedding !!! :)

Good luck on everything !!

Hi
Congrats on the pregnancy
If you intend to breast feed you cannot start CD until you have stopped but even if you don't breast feed you have to wait until your baby is 3 months old!!
I breast fed at first and then switched to bottle feeding,
it did my head in having to wait until I could start and then I stupidly messed around for 2 months cos I couldn't get my head into CD
your CD consultant will tell you that you can't start until after 3 months of giving birth, it's to do with your body adjusting back after going through birth it's a major thing for your body to cope with,

Just copied this off the official Cambridge diet website

"Any woman who is pregnant, breastfeeding or who has given birth in the last three months cannot use a Cambridge programme.
Pregnant and lactating women require increased levels of protein and energy, and are advised to follow a diet rich in lean protein, whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables. In pregnancy, care has to be taken not to exceed intakes for some micronutrients especially vitamin A.
Every pregnant woman should be seeing a dietician who can advise on the suitability of various dietary approaches.
Pregnant women cannot use any products as part of a programme or as a nutritional supplement"

Hope this helps xx

Breast feeding is one of the best ways to shed baby weight so don't stop early to jump on cambridge. The only safe diet whilst pregnant is slimming world it is healthy eating and nutritious. There are some areas offering subsidised membership to pregnant women with SW. Think about going on that now then look at cambridge afterwards. Good luck.
