Mince beef food ideas please

One of our favourites is one I got from a SW mag some time ago.

Make a base of savoury mince to your own taste preference (I use 500g EL mince with chopped/diced carrot, onion, potato, mushroom, peppers, tin of chopped toms/carton of passata, 2 tspn beef bovril/stock cube, garlic & seasoning). When veg is cooked, transfer mix to oven-proof dish & cover with mixture of 4 eggs whisked with tub of 0% greek yoghurt + chopped dill. Cook on 180 for 35 mins till top is firm & golden brown.

FYI - when mixing eggs & yoghurt it starts to look like a curdled mess but a bit more whisking transforms it into a smooth gloop.

I use mince all the time. You could do a chilli, cottage pie, lasagne, moussaka, meatballs, meatloaf, cannelloni. Let me know if you need any recipes for any of these

Quote from my 20 yr old son yesterday when I served him baked potato with savoury mince "you know mum, nobody makes mince & onions as good as you do, I know gran's a good cook but your mince beats hers everytime"

1/2 lb mince
3 carrots finely diced and boiled for about 5 mins til half-cooked.
1 large or 2 small onions finely chopped
tons of mushrooms very finely chopped (cos he doesn't like them ;))
half bag frozen peas
2 beef stock cubes
1 veg stock cube
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tsps mixed herbs
1 tbl spoon tomato puree (think this is syned but not sure)
a handful of red lentils
pepper to taste

Serves 4-6 potions depending on size. To make it go further just add a bit more water and lentils.

gently fry the onions for about 5 mins then add mince. fry until brown then add mushrooms and cook for another 5 mins. crumble in the stockcubes, add the garlic powder, mixed herbs & tomato puree then cover with boiling water. add the cooked carrots, peas and lentils then simmer for about 30 mins to soften the mince. keep an eye on it cos you may need to add a bit more water if it gets too thick. (I like it when the spoon can almost stand up on its own, lol). Add pepper to taste. Tastes even better when you add some gravy granules but they are 3.5 syns per tblsp.

Its great with chips, mash, roasties or boiled potatoes, as a topping for jacket spuds and it makes a fab cottage pie. I've also mixed it with some boiled rice and stuffed stuffed peppers, courgettes and aubergines with it.

Have you tried the kebab recipe yet? Its to die for!!!!

I add all the spices then either make burgers with it or koftas (just wrap the spiced mince around a skewer and bake for about 20-30 mins).

Make your own spring rolls, samosas. The pastry can be found in some Tescos.
