Good article in this month's Easy Living

I am a magazine junkie but I thought the article "Are you friends making you fat?" was very good. It talks about situations where you are pressured to eat and strategies you can employ - all very pertinent for us! Just as a taster this is how it starts:

"You want to lose a few pounds - or at least not get any bigger. But friends can react in very odd ways to the news you're trying to discipline your food intake. Perhaps they're anxious that you'll whittle yourself down to an unhealthy size zero.

But selfish considerations creep in too, often subconsiously. Friends can't help wondering whether your principled stance will highlight their overindulgence, or put a dampener on the next social occasion. Some, sadly, enjoy being Kate Moss to your Beth Ditto and don't want you to change the status quo. You can keep your desire for a svelte silhouette a closely guarded secret. But food and drink are the currency of so many social situations, from cafe lunches with colleagues to gossip-laden girls' nights out, that secrecy will only get you so far.

Even if you have made an entirely private resolution, you still have to cope with the endless encouragement to throw caution to the winds. How do you keep your resolve intact when friends are tempting you to stray?"

Then it goes on to specific scenarios and the strategies you could use. Hope it's helpful!
