Scared to start

Chasing the Rainbow
Hi all,

Doc gave me orlistat to help me try and lose weight because i was doing really well at the gym but my weight was beginning to cause issues with exercising.

Thing is............this is how bad i've found it to actually get starting dieting at all - i'm actually avoiding starting it, because i don't want the side effects! I knew about them before i paid for the damn prescription but now it's time to start i'm avoiding it like the plague :(

i do find it a bit odd that some people are trying to up their fat to give it something to "work with" surely it's better to eat less fat and not need it at all?

Anyway - does any one have any inspiration or verbal kicks up the bum to help get me going? :wave_cry:

If you eat right the side effects aren't there - I've had them and they are quite as bad as everyone is told! Yes try arent pleasant but really can be avoided.

Just give it a go loosing weight is great!! Xx

good morning,
its my first week on orlistat, and have to say its not that bad!.. if your going to pig out on lard then there will be consequences!.. your right when you say surly its as easy just to cut down on fat! but is it really that easy? i think for me.. its the fact that it makes me think and have a look at the fat content before i pop it in my mouth.
i got slight side effects from these tablets, wind being 1.. but im sure if i were to have fish n chips and pop a pill there would be many more!!.. "Mmmmmm fish n chips" lol
sam......

Hi hun, please don't be scared..there are 2 simple rules to Xenical, no more than 5grams of fat per 100grams and no more than 15grams per meal. If you follow these rules, you won't get the side effects.

There are stories out there of loosing bowel control etc etc, but the information that comes with those stories doesn't reflect the truth about Xenical, I'v never had a bad moment with Xenical in a year.

At the start I got a little tired and a bit of a headache, that last a week or so, and it wasn't that bad.

You'll be fine, don't worry :)

as the others have already said stick within the rules and you wont have any problems....

hope you have managed to start, and are finding it ok
