Do you have ALL your foodpacks!

Think thin
Just wondering do you have all your 4 foodpacks religously each day? I have recently been told one lady in my group does not always have her full allowance. Not sure if co-incidence but she has lost an incredible amount of weight - just over 3 stone since starting on 20 June! She does still have a few stone to lose but.............. just wondered!!

Hi Minnie

You must have all four of your packs each day. They provide the full complement of vitamins and nutrients that your body needs, which is the main advantage of a VLCD. If you don't have all of your packs each day, you run the risk of feeling unwell, and potentially slowing your weight loss down as your body goes into 'starvation' mode.

Hand on heart, this is not to be played with - make sure you have your four ;)

I always have my 4 packs - I was merely wondering that was all

I actually asked the same question to my counsellor yesterday eve.

the odd day last week i just realy couldn't be bothered to have the last pack - I did. but wondered what would happen if i missed one. As D Q said she was adamant that i did NOT miss any packs as it could make me unwell and send me into starvation mode.

hi there HTPink. I am going to check out the muffin recipe. although i have heard a few people in my group saying that if you microwave it or freeze it the food pack loses it nutritional value.

do you know if this is the case ?

I don't want to create more problems for myself

In beleive that you should only have 1 cooked or frozen a day....as you are right it does loose the nutrients. But one a day will not be detremental (sp) to your diet. The Muffins are great and so are the crisps made with the chilli pack.

It's true that cooking your packs kills off some of the nutrients - that's why you should only do it to one a day. Personally I do a double shake most evenings (can recommend strawberry and banana or chocolate and banana) and it's nicer than a single flavour on its own.

But apparently cooking a pack and losing those nutrients is not equivalent to skipping one - you do still get some nutrition and of course you do get the calories (okay, only c127) which keep your metabolism ticking over.

Muffins are foul - don't get too excited!

i think the muffins are lovely! I don't have a cooked pack every day so i figure a double cooked one is ok - i always reserve a bit of the pack to make a sauce. Obviously nothing like a double choc chip muffin but still pretty nice!

I tried the muffin just the once. Nah...wasn't for me.

Getting back to the lady in your group though. She may well have lost this amount because she has lots to lose? 3 stone in the first 2 months isn't at all unusual when you're obese.

I do hear more stories about people not losing well when they miss a shake each day. If fact I've never heard anyone say they've done better this way

So, I reckon she's doing well because she is

1. lucky
2. Has a lot to lose.

Who knows, she might have lost even more had she had the full quota.

Really? Perhaps I'm missing out in some way - let us into your secret recipe. Perhaps you have a knack - the rest of my group thought they were pretty grim too!

And as you say, nothing like an actual muffin (unsurprisingly)!

i just mix up the powder to a very stiff mix - and put it in a ramekin in the microwave for 1min 30 secs - i have a 750 watt. While its cooking i put the other couple of teaspoons of power in the mixing bowl and make a runny sauce. Run the knife around the ramekin and turn out the muffin on a plate and pour the sauce on top!

I always added hot water (not boiling) to the soup mix and whooshed it with a stick blender.

Perfect.
