Can a person be tested for diabeties whilst on atkins or will a lack of a sugar reading give a false negitive result?

I would check with your doctor to be sure but I think if you aren't diabetic then your blood sugar will still read as normal range

Hi Marysu, I am a type 2 diabetic and I low carb to keep my blood glucose levels low so it may well be that Atkins would give a false negative result but if you thought that you were diabetic the Doctor would probably give you a Glucose Tolerance Test which involves you have a measured glucose drink and then having blood samples taken at regular intervals to show the rate of absorption. Very important if you do think you may have diabetes you will have to see a Doctor
