some advice please!! :)

hey all, how's it going,
Am crashing from the exante board soz!
I was steadily losing with healthy eating and exersize but being impatient i decided to whack the last stone off with exante shakes! Nearly at my goal now and i'm going to follow a fairly low carb lifestyle when i'm there as bread, pasta and cheese and onion pasties are my downfall lol!
So i've just spent ages makin a list of all the food i like so i can watch my carb intake till i'm a pro at the low-carb way (i live on salad, veg and chicken really with apples and carrots & celery for snacks with a fat free yogurt for a treat)

but then i've just read about 'Net' carbs, which changes all the numbers on my list...
So, if i were to limit my carbs to I was thinking about 100g a day to begin with, should i be counting the total carbs or net carbs? am proper confuzeled!!

I'm not entirely sure, check out the stickies at the top of the page. I think there's information there. Well done! You've done amazingly well, 6st off and most-importantly maintained is incredible! - you'll find your way around the carbs no sweat. :D

Ok the total that you want to consider is net carbs - these are the carbs that impact blood sugar. However on labels in the uk the total carb amount IS the net carbs ie fibre has been taken out already. In US you need to subtract fibre from total carbs to get net carbs (i am ignoring polyols and cheat chocolate bars for now!)

So it all depends where you got your info for the list - if multi sourced on web you need to be very clear which type of counting it is!

Hope that makes sense - if not let me know what not clear.
