Swimming

I will do this!!!
So im going swimming 3 times a week, today is number 1. How will this effect my weight loss? will it decrease because of building muscle or because of water retention while my muscles repair?? or will it help with the weight loss?

anyone??

I have no idea, but think whether you lose weight or not, surely exercise is a good thing to be doing anyway. I don't think 'slowing weight loss' in excuse enough to not go swimming or whatever!

Regardless of whether it affect weight loss, exercise is exercise!!

oh i wouldn't stop going because iv really enjoyed it, just wanted to know before i jump on the scales and wonder whats gone wrong if i do put on or dont lose.

it will help - the exercise will increase your metabolic rate causing it to burn more fat and therefore you will lose more!

You may get a small offsetting gain in lean muscle mass as your legs and arms tone up a bit but that's also good (and muscle weight burns more calories than fat weight)

So all good - carry on swimming!

Exercise doesnt really make a difference one way or another on a VLCD but it will help tone you up etc so may help inch loss. Lbs wise it wont really make any difference

helping with toning sounds good! i need to sort my wobble out lol

Yep swimming is all good - sure exante leaflet encourages exercise. Good for toning and keeping excess skin to a minimum (eesh, sorry, am still slightly traumatised after watching embarrasing fat bodies). Let us know how you get on with your energy levels - i've been wondering whether i'd feel ok with some exercise... :)

I swim five times a week, now up to 40-50 lengths of a 25 metre pool. I am not sure if it helps with weight loss, but something is (could it be the magic packets?) and I certainly feel well, in fact better than ever and better than 50 pounds ago.
I take it a day at a time. Not sure its worth worrying about the weight of muscle versus fat or anything else. Exercise makes me feel good. I hope this helps.
