Hi,

Me & my husband joined SW last night.

I have tried WW previously.

I read the books last night but I'm struggling to get my round it cus it's opposite to WW.

Everyone says you can eat anything!

I know it's a long shot but can anyone explain how it works really basic.

Many thanks

HI and welcome!

Have you read this thread ?

Basically, whereas WW gives all food a point value based on their nutritional information, SW works on satiation or how long foods fill you up for.

The foods that are classed as free foods on SW all fill you up for longer relative to their calorie content. All calories are not the same! You can eat 300 calories of chocolate as a snack and be hungry half an hour later, but eat 300 calories of free foods (most likely as a meal accompanied by superfree fruit and veggies) and this will fill you up for a lot longer. So you fill up on free foods (note that does not mean you can stuff yourself just because the foods are free) and you are less inclined to need to reach for the 'naughty' stuff.

I assume you will be doing extra easy? The requirement to have one third of each meal as superfree fruit/veggies also helps ensure you do not overdo the free foods.

Then you have your health extras to make sure you are getting the right balance of nutrients each day including calcium, fibre and protein.

And also your syns because a little of what we fancy does us good! And it means that you are more likely to be able to follow the plan long-term because you are not depriving yourself of anything.

if you have any questions, just give a shout.
