Boris's diary ( thats not my real name its Matt)

hey matt, welcome to lighterlife. the support is amazing and by xmas youll be at goal maybe even sooner as men do tend to lose quicker. i lost 62lbs in 17weeks on lighterlife in 2009and it was the best thing i ever done. my only advce is to complete route to management. i didnt hence one and a half years later im still struggling, i cant afford to do lighterlife with an upcoming wedding in vegas i cant justify spending £72 per week.

i am however still in touch with my llc and doing exante( cheating i know lol) but its so i can do rtm when i reach goal. be open and honest in your diary as its so good to look back on.

good luck and were all here if you need us. xx

Hey thanks for your reply that's mega ! £72 is a lot, but I figure I spend more than that on crap anyway !

Was there any reason for you not doing route to management ?

And the support .... God I'm gonna need it !! :) x

i got to week 5 and thought i knew it all..... maintained for a couple of weeks but folk thought i was tooo thin so i enjoyed trying to put on a couple of lb. hmmm that turned into a couple of stone. been struggling since then. this forum has helped so much though and right now im starving and just looking for anything to take my mind off the fridge.... done all my housework had a long soak and had endless cups of water and im still thinking FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD. this is day 2 and im hoping this is the sign that ketosis is on its way.

You did well though ? And too thin, if only :) what is it you are doing ? Food for me is a massive habit and comfort it's not even about hunger !

I'm going for this consultation on Friday, but not sure when I'll actually start ? X

I'm doing exante. I did do well and my llc has always said I'm a successful weight loser but I need to learn how to maintain. Xx

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum, you will find it extremely supportive, along with your LLC and group.

If you have not yet started, try and cut out as many carbs as you can for the few days before you start, it will keep the headaches at bay, which most people get for the first few days. I was lucky, cut out carbs and had no headaches!

If you follow the plan, the weight will drop off, I am now on week 13, and had been dieting all my life. It is easy enough, but not a walk in the park, you will have your own challenges, which you can share on here or your group.

Remember to drink drink drink water!

You will get used to the food packs and chose your favourites, I use a Kenwood Smoothie maker to mix my shakes with ice, they then taste a bit like McDonalds milkshake!

Good luck with your journey, 6 stone will be gone!!

Ketosis will kick in after a few days and the hunger will go, it is so worth doing this diet.

Welcome Matt,
Welcome to LL.
Most people who decide to do LLT (Lighter Life Total) have quite a lot of weight to lose. When we get close to goal people who have known us at our largest suddenly seem to get concerned we are getting too thin (especially if it's thinner than them!) and they think they should tell us. Funny how they don't feel the need to tell us when we are too fat and could do with their encouragement to lose weight...................!
You are right. LL seems expensive, but if you add up the cost of a weeks food, drink, take-aways, evenings out, choc, crisps, rubbish,
mid-night feats, cakes, biscuits, sneaky snacks, petrol station treats etc etc. most of us will gave spent more than that.
So you could lose weight and save money and change your life.
You'll get lots of info at the session with the LLC.
2 good points for you. Men lose weight more quickly than women and the price you pay is for the packs only. The counselling is free.
You have already picked up on a key point - those who do RTM have a greater success rate of maintaining their losses (look at what the Returners say). You set your own goal weight. No-one tells you what it should be, it's up to you.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Thanks guys it really means a lot !! The carb tip is good ! Im a carb freak ! julz - how much have you lost ?

Carrie - that's everyone's challenge isnt it, five years ago i lost four stone on weight watchers! Think it was all back on within a year ! Not healthy to keep going up and down is it !

I'm worried about my skin being saggy too, but hope youth will be on my side with regards to that ! Xx

I have lost nearly 3 st so far, if you look at the edge of diaries you can see thats where its updated, it is quite motivational looking at yours and others weightloss.
Most also use the ticker factory at the bottom of signatures , its a bit of fun too!

Hope you get on ok, mine is about 6 stone to lose as well, it does come off fast if you stick to plan.
Lose skin, my decision is I am doing some exercise to minimise and using oils to try and prevent, exercising can slow down weightloss, and need to be careful as it is a vlcd, speak to your LLC.

Ps dont wait too long before going to the loo, constipation sometimes due to low volumes and fibre!

Hi Matt
Good luck on your weight loss journey.
I would like to add that after the first week I felt so much better,my hair and nails were in great condition and people commented on how good my skin looked.
Just drink plenty of water and you wil be fine.
Im getting excited about restarting my journey after an enforced break.

Hi matt, some people do lose hair at the end of the diet when introducing food again, but its not a major issue, while on LL you dont shed as much hair as your body is holding onto everything due to the vlc intake. When youbintroduce food again you might shed hair for a couple of weeks until your body accepts that you are no longer in starvation mode. Its temporary and dows not happen to everyone.
Good luck with your consultation , your LLC will go through loads and you will watch a video.

Thanks ladies !!

Not long finished my consultation session which was very informative, I had her chatting for ages ! Embarrassingly got quite emotional talking to her.

I'm quite ashamed I'm tipping the scales at just over twenty stone - i used to be considered a "good looking lad" but feel people pitty me! I think the realisation of how I look and feel has really dawned on me!

Anyway decided I'm joining but can't join until the 16th which isn't that far away ! I have to get a form signed by my doctors hope they are ok with it !

So everyone - any tips for me between now and then.

Matt xx

Hi Matt
Great news that you are joining, you wont regret it, only advice now is to clear your fridge/freezer and cupboards, you won't be eating for a while!
Hope your doctor is happy to sign form, mine refused as they don't believe in LL! My choice, my body!!
My LLC referred me privately and had to pay about £55, now for the monthly check up of blood pressure, I go to my local Asda they are happy to do the form.
I am sure the weight will just drop off! Focus on where you want to be and go for it!
