Bad scales

Have just discovered my scales are a stone out, and have been adding a stone to my weight, so that's one less stone I have to lose, quite pleased!

Woah! What a nice surprise!

I got the shock of my life a little while ago when I brought my scales into my new room at uni, as they were a stone heavier, then I realised that it was because I was using it on carpet - quick transfer to the bathroom and everything was back to normal!

I have been using them on the bathroom floor, I don't really understand what is wrong with them, they are only cheap ones, I'm a student too, so on a budget. At least it wasn't a stone out the other way!

In cheaper scales the spring stretches and deforms over time - it takes only a little error on the spring to make a big error on the measurement.

Hollyb, you could just visit Boots once a week unless you have a friend with scales.

They are quite new, might have to invest in a better set, I can't get to a boots that easily, I'm in a village, any recommendations?

Hollyberry. Do you trust the home scales to show how much your weight has changed - even if the total figure is wrong?

If so - just get weighed at Boots, make a note of that weight, then just take off the weight loss recorded on the scales at home.

It's not ideal, but it would tide you over until you can get scales you trust.

how do you know they were out hon?

Staying with my dad fir the summer, and his girlfriend was round and used them, and was over what she weighs on hers, and the set that were in the villa they were in on holiday last week.

I think my loss must be similar still, because I've taken pics and clothes have got looser and you can see it in my face
