starting cambridge diet

Hi everyone!

I have recently made the decision to start the diet plan as I want to lose weight and keep it off.

I am 5'8 and around 12st12lbs.. I am currently at my all time heaviest and and want to get down to 10 or 10 and a half stone as my goal. I don't think sole source would be a good option for me as I enjoy my food too much but would like your advice on what you recommend. I also would like to know if excercising would also be recommended and if some of you out there with less weight to lose have found that the diet works for you. My main concearn is that I lose the weight but then pile it all back on and then some because my body is in a panick mode and will just store anything I eat! Hope that makes sense lol!

I am due to meet the councilor this and I'm excited but know that this will be hard so any advice you can give me would be great!

Thanks :)

Hello!

Thought I'd drop in and say hi cos it can be a bit quiet here on the weekends!

There are a few people here who've done really well on Cambridge who didn't have loads to lose. Check out coralprincess's diary here for a great example: http://www.minimins.com/cd-weight-loss-diaries/201825-my-before-during-after-thread.html

If I've done the maths correctly, you've got a BMI of 27-ish at the moment which means you could SS for a week or three if you wanted to get off to a flying start. Or SS+, which is SS plus a small protein and veg meal, or 810, which is three shakes a day, plus 340ml skimmed milk (handy for tea!) and a bigger protein and veg meal.

I think Carla (coralprincess) did most of her losing on SS+.

:welcome: to the madness that is Cambridge! Like everything, the hardest part is getting started!

Thanks for the reply Lilly!

I am debating wether to start straight away on SS or see what I'm like on the one with a meal.. Worried I will crack but doing it with my partner.. We are insanely competitive so I'm hoping that will spur me on! I am excited to start and think I will start cutting down my food intake as of tomorrow so that its not as much of a shock!

Thanks for all the advice.. Picking my shake flavours etc as we speak!!

Decisions decisions.... Haha

So today I conciously decided to try and cut down ahead of starting the diet and increase my water intake.. I still had meals but no snacking and I have already had over 3 litres of water when usually don't have even one glass! Absolutely starving now though!

Going too cut down more tomorrow and try and get myself used to having less food! Any tips are welcome as I'm not even on cd yet but hungry :)

Aww, *blushes* how flattering that you recommended my diary :D

I'll try to answer a few of your questions hon,

The hunger will go away when you are in ketosis, you'll only get into it when you SS or SS+ so if you are starving now (before you start CD) just have fruit or some lean protein ie chicken breast. Once you start the only thing that staves off the hunger is water!

I found SS+ really good, the eating didn't affect my mindset, it was just better for me to eat 4 times instead of 3.

As for exercise, it can slow you down, some people love it (missyjo and cerulean have both done really well exercising) I have always been active but abstained whilst on CD as I was always lightheaded. Good luck! :)

On the first day of my diet.... on SS and its going okay - life made a little harder by the fact that there is a promotion company in work which has brought doughnuts, sandwiches and pimms in! I have been good though and resisted the temptation! I don't plan on crashing any time soon!

What I am struggling with it the taste of the shakes etc.

I had porridge this morning which was far too sweet! so much so that I couldn't finish it!

Now on banana and it seem like again there is this sickly sweet after taste which I'm struggling to cope with.

Are all the products like this? I'm hoping that the mint chocolate chip one I have in mind later will be a change!

Hi :)

I hated the porridge, banana, cappuccino and fruits of the forest shakes but everything else was lovely :)

Well done on resisting the buffet, it does get easier too!

Have a lovely day :)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the tips.. I tried the chocolate and vanilla shake and these were fine just a bad first day for flavours I guess. I also tried the chilli soup but I'm not much of a fan.

Day two and I'm feeling fine, not even hungry or missing food.. It more flavours that I miss! I'm feeling really positive and hope I manage to be like this still at the end of the week :)

Also looking forward to seeing my weight loss.. I just hope it is a good loss as I don't want all this effort to be fore nothing!

I am doing ss, am 5'7 and 13st 2 I want to get to 10st 7 am planning on doing ss for 3-4 weeks then see where i'm at. I'm on day 4 is been headachy and lots of loo trips but i am determined. Also have a supportive hubby and best friend Emmie83 has successfully done cd.

Sounds good!! I am doing it with my OH. Went and got weighed and I am ( hopefully WAS by now ;) ) 12st10 and I want to get down to 10st so that I have a healthy BMI of 22 although I would be happy with anything that includes 9st as last time I was that light I must have been about 13 haha! Good luck and well done on your progress so far.. I'm sure its only a matter of time until we reach our goals!! Feeling really motivated.. Today has been easy! Can't wait for thursday for my weigh in.. Hoping its a good loss to keep me motivated!

Hey I find the banana too sweet as well. What I do is mix the choc with the banana. I also do that with the orange. I also mix the potato and chicken soups for some variety. I am a newbie too, started a week ago and have lost 6lbs. I am in ketosis but the hunger is what gets me. I am hoping it will subside at some point. Good luck, the weight loss is amazing and very motivating

I am hoping for a similar loss if not more.. I'm on my fourth day.. Have no scales so its gonna be a big surprise! I did however get a tape measure and it looks as though I have already lost an inch on my hips waiste and chest so can't be doing badly!

Luckily I don't suffer with the hunger and quite enjoy the ease of just having a shake for a meal.. Saves plenty of time! Can't wait for my week one weigh in! :p

Worst day I have had so far.. Been craving all sorts but determined to get to thursday at 100% .. On day 5 and have been totally comited but really have struggled today.. Caught myself thinking about what to prepare for tea before realising that I can't have any.. I need to stop thinking about it!! I don't want to go through all this and then revert back to my old binging ways!

I'm on day 7 and catch myself thinking about dinner, I cook hubby and daughter every day and do have irrational thoughts about carrots!!! Haha you can do it x stay positive.
