When do they notice?

pizzle84

I will do this!!!
when do people tend to notice you've lost weight? is it after losing 10% of your body weight?

I'm glad you asked this, I've been wondering the same.

Noone has noticed for me yet I'm a couple lb off 10% mark

If it is 10% of body weight then thats 1 1/2 stone for me and that seems like ages away!

I've had people say that my face looks different :sigh: I'm guessing after another 30lbs they might notice something else looks different???

Ooooh sorry, just realised I might have made the whole thing sound pretty hopeless:eek::eek::eek: I carry my weight solidly all over so although I've gone down a couple of dress sizes I'm guessing tisn't that obvious how much weight I've lost.... that and the fact that I've always worn trousers and tunic tops....... rain or shine:D

Theres no hard and fast rules  And be prepared for people to notice but not comment, that happens a lot

i thought there was a rough time though, like 10%?

i hope people notice when i lose my weight, im doing the toughest thing going and i want some compliments at the end of it!!!

This will vary from one person to the next, as well as if other people actually take much notice of such things. It may not be obvious to us, as we look every day - making it more difficult to realise.

The best thing to do is take 2 photos of yourself every 2 weeks, one from the front and one from the side. If you have stuck to the plan, you will see a difference.

There was a noticeable difference in my face and belly after just the first week, which was at around 6% of my total body weight.

iv noticed a change in my stomach because im not looking like im 9months pregnant! but that was mostly bloating.

Yes, initially it's dropping the water that can make quite a difference both in weight and appearance. For most people anyway.

Some dont comment, but you can tell by the way they look at you, that they have noticed. Who knows why they dont comment :)

I think alot of it is to do with height also :).
If you have alot of weight to lose, and are quite short, it takes ages to notice. But if you are a few inches taller, with the same amount to lose, it will be noticeable quicker :)

I just had my first comment a couple of days ago from my mom who mentioned that my clothes looked big on me (not that i had lost weight). I told her that they have stretched with a lot of use, and she just agreed with me and carried on the conversation, lol. But, i could see her eyeing up my stomach when she thought i wasn't looking, hehe. I have come clean to her now :).

No-one else has noticed yet :(. I keep noticing myself when i walk past shop windows, i keep stopping and admiring my new smaller stomach. I'm around 20lbs down. I think it will only be very obvious to others when i get to 40lb to be honest. Especially as i'm so overweight to start with, and i usually wear baggy clothes.

It can be good not to have everyone notice too early. Reading some other people's diaries and struggles on here, i see some people hit a bit of a wall when everyone starts commenting on how great they look. It then turns into comments about how you should stop dieting now because you look fine, etc which can put a bit of stress on people from what i've seen. Some people just don't seem to want 'fatties' like us to reach a real goal but rather to stop at the point where we are in danger of becoming thinner than themselves, lol.

How about asking some people if they've noticed anything different about you? You deserve the compliment and some people don't like to mention weight (good or bad) incase they make you feel uncomfortable xxx

I think it depends on how long it's been since you last seen a certain person. I see my mum every day and every 2 or 3 days she will say you've lost more haven't you, I can see it in your face! Now I don't know if she is being honest or just trying to make me feel better! But generally I think the more often you see someone the less they will notice. I went out for a family meal on Sunday at -18lbs since the last time I seen these particular members of the family and they were all gobsmacked at my loss (none of them knew I was on a diet either so I don't think they were just humouring me!) so much so that one of them is now about to start exante! So it really does depend, I don't think its the same for everyone. Hope they notice soon! xx

Ive had lots of people notice, people at work only noticed the last week, but i just thought cos they see me everyday thats why.
My mum commented a few weeks ago when i had lost around 1 1/2 stone.
Ive lost all of mine off my top half i have neck bones now, where i didn`t before.
My belly now floats in the bath it doesn`t touch the sides anymore lol.
doing my measurements i have lost 7 inches off my hips 3 inches off my waist, 1/2 inch off my calfs ( have always had skinny legs tho) and ive lost 2 1/2 inches off my bingo wings lol.
Also my bust i have lost 5 inches.

I usually get comments within the first week. I carry a lot of weight in my face, and always get asked by friends if i've bought a new eye shaddow. I, strangely enough, notice that the weight first comes off from my eyelids. Weird, i know! But usually within a week or so of starting a diet, I have more space on my eyelids to put eye shadow so people think it's something new! Weird.

My mum is very 'anti fat people' and has been all her life - she's a twig and is forever bragging over it. So she notices straight away when I lose weight, but never in a complementary way, always in a "see that wasn't so hard, why couldn't you have lost the weight ages ago, you could be so pretty...".

Argh!

Oh thus so true, am struggling at the moment coz I keep being told "I look good as am a 14 now so have to take it easy and do WW or stop". It`s left me confused and now am all over the place. One minute I feel good and the next so so big. Had a heart to heart with OH who thinks am better off on Exante and might as well do it to lose 2 more stone. He says I shouldn`t worry about loose skin just make sure I get on the cross trainer or do the shred :). I wish people could stop commenting then that way I will get on with it lol :D.

Pizzle just remember some comments may not be so nice. Am sure they will notice, so drink up that shake lol x

Well done for sticking to your plan, divalicious. I guess the key here is in knowing without a doubt what you want and making that image firm in your mind and then just "doing it" without listening to the detractors. Truth is exante is fast, healthy, and you will have just as much success with keeping the weight off as on any other diet. So if you are in the exante zone and still have weight to lose, then why stop? hehe. Keep up the good work hon, and keep coming here to top up on the positive vibes whenever you need them til you get to goal - you can do it ;).
