How do you do it?

Please tell me, when you're calorie counting do you ONLY count the calories in foods or do you have to count fat etc.

I must have tried all diets going and am seriously thinking of just plain calorie counting so I can eat the odd treat without my brain telling me I've ruined my diet for the day, and then a bad day turning into a bad week. "sigh"

Thank you

Hi Woxywood, You certainly have done the rounds of dieting regimes! .. lol!..:D

The only thing that makes a person successful at this game is to be persistent and regularly stick to it no matter what, which is easier said than done, hey?

When I calorie count I do so for everything and everything possible is weighed or measured to some degree. Therefore a sandwich for example - slice of bread may be 30g, butter 10g, and etc. and I usually measure 8floz of milk to use for my drinks of tea for the day. A lot of info can be taken from the food wraps themselves or use the "My Fitness Pal" which will count them for you. There is also a little pocket sized book that I recommend as it is so comprehensive. It's the "Collins gem Carb Counter" and you can get it online for just a few pence. It gives useful breakdown of carbs, fibre, calories, protein and fat for hundreds of food items and also many Takeaway foods. Well worth the few pence and I have found it invaluable.

All the very best to you in your journey and doo keep a diary so you can log your successes and have a rant or two when necessary! ... :)

Thank you for replying Emmaline and I will definately invest in a calorie counter.

I certainly have done the rounds with regards to dieting lol, however I have been kind of making my own diet up the past few weeks and have lost 11lb (need to update ticker) After just having my last baby I want to keep an eye on the calories and make sure that what I'm eating is enough/not too much whilst carrying on with what I've been doing which is just cutting back the amount of food, no snacking and more fruit and veg.

Keep up the good work as you seem to be doing really well

Hi Woxy!

Personally speaking I can't be bothered counting fat. I figure, as I'm going by calories, I generally gravitate towards foods that are low in fat anyway, as they're generally low in calories too - and I want MAXIMUM food for MINIMUM spend! :p

For counting I just guess that a sandwich is about 500 calories and all the rest I do a quick look up online. Write myself a food diary so I have it straight in my head.

Good luck!
