Slimming World possible on £10 per week?

Hi all

I have lost 8 stone on the Cambridge Diet, but I am now pretty fed up with the food packs, not eating normal food and the cost of the diet (£73 per fortnight at present).

In October I start at uni as a "mature" student :D and have been using Asda online shop thingy to see if I could buy all my food for a week for £10 which I managed if I bought all the value stuff and basically had no luxuries.

Anyway, I was wondering what you all spent on your weekly shop for the SW diet, is it possible to do the diet on £10-£20 per week or is that just not realistic?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi There

I remember being a student and living on £12 a week, but that was 12 years ago!!!!

I would imagine you would have to stick to green days and base your food around jacket potatoes, baked beans pasta & eggs. You need to make sure you get some fruit and veg every day, im not sure how much things cost in the basics range but im sure that if you worked out all your meals in advance then you may be able to do it for £15 - £20 per week. Hopefully one of the others Slimming Worlders is a student and may be able to help you more!!

Well done on your weightloss so far!! x

Hiya ralya have you been on the student area on the members webpage. I have not been on there yet I am going to have a look later but apparently it has loads of cheap and quick meals to make for when you are on a student budget. The password this week for the webpage is Gardening.

ive had a look at the weekly menu for the student budget plan and i think it works out as something like £20 for the whole week.

sw can be followed ver cheaply doing green days mostly, asda value pasta and rice are very cheap as are jacket spuds and beans, tinned toms and lentils, herbs can be bought very cheap too so yes it is possible :D

Hi Rallya,

I'm a student and yes it can be done! I found it hard at first because buying fresh fruit is what really eats into the budget, but ultimately it's all about planning and also knowing where to shop cheaply. The student shopping list on the slimming world website is good, but obviously you can't eat exactly the same menu every week. Still, I have printed it off to give it a go for when the term starts again next week!

Good luck at uni!

Thanks everyone for your comments, its much appreciated :)

If you have a local market you can get loads of fruit really cheaply so yes i think you could do it if you look for 2 for 1 offers and have an occasional red day otherwise you will be bored asda and tesco have the cheapest value range good luck
