Exercise for Eating Out

I just remembered I am going out tomorrow evening, not sure where yet. If I go to the gym today, can I use those calories for tomorrow or is it better to do exercise for that meal tomorrow?

Thanks :)

I tend to work my calories out over a seven day period (my week runs saturday to friday) so I sometimes save my exercise calories for another day.

Thanks :) I didn't end up going gym in the end so will either have to go tonight or tomorrow.

I think, ideally, it's best to go on a day-by-day basis. Even if you're staying within your cals for the week/month, it can't be good to be on the bare minimum, other than regular blow outs? And if you're doing it that way, there may be a higher chance of you 'punishing' yourself for days on end, if you go over.
Once in a while, I guess it'd be fine, but if you spend days 'restricting' yourself to 'save' for nights out, I think it'd all feel to diet-y and you're more likely to blow it. At lease starting each day afresh means you can have the occasional big 'treat', and not fret about it. Plus, this has to be for life, which means re-training the way our brains see food, for life, not just 'another diet'.

All just mho, sorry if it doesn't tie in with other folk's xx

I read somewhere that your body only has a 24hour *memory* of defecits. However, if you're lower one day, you'd mathematically lose more weight that day, and then lose less / gain on a day where you ate more.

oooh, that's interesting!

Interesting idea Fattack, never thought of it like that. I guess it comes down to what works for individuals. I know I can do it over a seven day period and come out ok the other end. My Mum, on the other hand, has to do it day by day. Perhaps age and metabolism is involved? Either way, I think its trial and error.

Just to say (and brag!) that I came to work yesterday morning as normal, only to score a FREE ticket to see Bon Jovi at Murrayfield stadium! Only thing was, I had to get my ass 175 miles to the other end of the country by yesterday afternoon! lol Might be fine on motorway, but with 85 miles of one-track road, that's no easy feat lol

Anyhoo, I went, I had a BRILLIANT day (crawled into bed at 4am). The days meals came from petrol stations, and consisted of sarnies, crisps and chocolate, and I can't say I even enjoyed it. Needs must and all that. I did ponder doing extra exercise today and not eating back the cals, but then thought about the above post and decided "'NO', today is a new day, just crack on as normal", and that's exactly what I intend to do. :)

Glad you enjoyed yourself! Was the show good? I'm seeing Bon Jovi tomorrow!!! SO EXCITED!

I'm not a huge Jovi fan, but my best girlys are. It was a good show, but as they were head to head with Take That, I think TT won - the stadium was nothing like full. So I think the atmosphere was lacking a little. BUT, you will probably find different :)x The encore was IMMENSE, best part of the night. Enjoy! xx
