BMI and me ....

Hi,

I'm loosing the weight but wondering where to stop. I'd really appreciate a little advice.

If I go on my BMI its telling me I should be a weight I haven't been since I was a teenager

I'm all for it but I'm also realistic ... size 28 jeans are a thing of the past :sigh:

So..... is there another way I should be looking at this?

Cheers,

Chris

Hiya

If you are comfortable and a healthy weight then stop, thats what I would do Boo x

you're right .... I'm getting mixed up in figures.

I'm feeling so much better for the 2 1/2 stone it's untrue. I actually feel like I'm walking on air sometimes.

I never thought I feel the difference like that !!

You'll know when you are happy. There is no "right" figure for any of us. It is all very much dependant on how we feel in ourselves and how we think our clothes are fitting. As long as you dont venture into "underweight" then find your own "happy" spot.

my son who is studying PE (only at GCSE level at the moment) said that BMI is rubbish, as most rugby players would be classed as having a BMI of an obese person. So if you are trying to loose weight and are building up muscle then your BMI might not go down to an 'acceptable' level.

i think all the numbers involved in weight are a pain in the bum! I am currently weighing myself as I am not at the stage where i can feel or see a difference but as soon as i start to feel it i will stop weighing myself as the number on the scales means nothing to me, i will be happy with my weight when i feel good within myself.
dont worry too much about the numbers, you will know when you're happy... go with it and good luck :)

No, I started with the highest BMI figure for healhy range. I kept losing without rally trying and as a result I now let my body decide the right weight.

BMI is merely a guideline, it is a fairly useless one in reality, people told me this, now I realise this.

Don't get me wrong, a BMI of 20-25 is great to aim for then you are obese or morbidly obese, but as you reach it, you may find it is nothing magical.

My weight now is lower than it has been since 9 or 10 - that's pre-teen of course! It hasn't stopped,im perfectly fit and healthy, I enjoy exercise and feel great. I eat enough- more than enough, I just cut out he rubbish.

You'll find your own way, but please bear in mind listen to your body first, yourself second and others last! - I found "others" told me to stop ages ago, but I know there was "room for improvement".

You don't want to be "comparatively" slim, but comfortably so.

You'll know when it is right.

Enjoy the journey;)

Steve - you've hit the nail on the head.

I'm being pushed to stop and I feel it's too early .......

You know your own body and how you want to look and feel. at the end of the day it is a "personal journey" isnt that what are told whilst doing this eating plan.
