Has anybody experienced dieting snobbery, i have recently told all my mates that im not dieting anymore, as they were constantly questioning everything i ate and it was amazing how many people make out there some kind of dieting experts.

Also one of my friends keeps saying im wasting my time as im not doing weight watchers etc etc, it almost feels like just becouse im not doing what others are doing then im wrong,

I have had a few wobbles whilst dieting but i am losing weight,

Im trying to eat around 2000 calaries a day, am doing daily exercise but yet people still say i should be joining one of the weight loss meetings

Don't listen to these people! I'm no superhuman but I managed to lose 63lb in 6 months all by myself by just counting calories and exercising.

Some people might not like to hear it but SW/WW are just fancy ways of counting calories. After all you lose weight by burning more energy than you take in. These clubs are good however for teaching you the right foods to eat and general support, but you don't NEED them :)

People tend to lose sight of the real objective of any diet/calorie controlled eating plan which is weight loss! As long as you're doing it in a safe manner i.e. not starving yourself then it doesn't matter what plan you're on. I try not to tell anyone what plan I'm on or reveal how much I've lost because they either react with the 'diet snobbery' or think you have all the answers lol!

One of my work collegues was telling me and a few others at work that she told her sister to stop her healthy eating/excersize diet and join ww as its a waste of time, this is exacly what i was talking about, lost another 2 pounds so, guess my way works

i tell people that im not dieting but have changed my lifestyle (which i have) it has a permanence about it and people's attitudes change and they seem curiously interested because they have not considered that i order to keep the weight off they have to change their lifestyles FOREVER and those that criticise healthy eating are usually yo yo dieters and it stumps them because a lifestyle change is a bigger commitment and something that slimming clubs dont enforce you to do because they know you wont change your lifestyle so the minute you fall off their plan you'll be on to the next. try it; i love to see their speechless faces x x

Completely 100% agree! :D

Do what ever works for you Hun. <3

Some people like or need the support of a group; I like to do my own thing as whenever I go for regular classes, as soon as I stop losing weight I come home and eat badly then eventually give up. I have to say you've lost loads of weight so far and you have done brilliantly, thus proving you don't need to go to a class. I've said that when I get within 8lbs of my goal, I'm going to join a class to lose the last bit and become a life member so I can hopefully keep the weight off, but maybe I'll not bother - I've got a way to get there first!

Maybe people are jealous that you can do it on your own and they can't. You'll have the last laugh as yours will be cash free!

Even though ive lost 3 stone 1, one of my mate who is on ww is still saying ill put it all back on due to not doing ww,

What is wrong with people, if its working for me and im doing it in a safe way, then whats the problem, have just said we will have to agree to dissagree

Hiya, hope you dont mind me jumping in. I do ww cos as someone said earlier i need the discipline of someone weighing me but i have the utmost respect for you and everyone else doing it by themselves. Each to their own and whatever works for them is what i say. Well done to you on your weight loss x

I am going to jump on here and put ,my 2 pence in as well :D

Goose is right each to their own but it's not just weight loss snobbery you get these kinds of people on every subject, they think their opinion is right and nobody could possibly have a different one.

Although for a friend to be saying you will put it all back on is a but off in my opinion. I think if you had the drive to loose it with out the support of a class then I think you have the drive to keep it off :D x x x

I agree with these ladies. Don't take any notice of other peoples opinions on you, just listen to your own body, and keep going with what is so plainly working for you. What's one mans poison is another mans medicine!!
Happy days people

:)

Ww and sl are very good, just not for me

Today ive lost 3 pounds, so im 12 pounds from my goal, and ive decided that if anyone takes the mickey out of my diet then i just turn around and walk away, good luck everyone on your diet

I am getting great support from my family who mostly struggle with their weight too. Found myself looking less at other people and watching myself more. Good positive tho.
I also think its hard for people who never had a weight issue to really understand how difficult it is but a bit more understanding and less judgement is needed
:)

Your so right, thin people dont understand how hard it can be to reduce weight.

Ive lost another 2 pounds, so thats 10 pounds till ill be 10 stone, i do keep having mini wobbles but the scales are still on my side, hope your doing good
