struggling with extra easy

*Trying-again*

Plodding on til its gone
could anyone give me the basics on extra easy please. Read what I have about it but struggling with it.

Today I planned a green day but had too much mince from a bolognese so had the idea that I would change it to an extra easy day.

I had a mug shot earlier today and dont know if that would still be counted as free on an extra easy as it would had I stuck to green today or if I syn it and if so how many syns is it?

Thank u x

Hi TryingAgain

Key things on Extra Easy are:

1. One Healthy Extra A and one Healthy Extra B per day

2. Every meal must be at least 1/3 Superfree foods (e.g. not potatoes, peas, sweetcorn, parsnips)

3. You can then choose freely from any other Free foods on either Red or Green

4. For Syns you look at Red and Green day Syns and use the lower figure (e.g. if your Mugshot was free on green it would be free on Extra Easy)

Hope that helps. Have a look at this thread where your questions and many other useful bits of information are covered. http://www.minimins.com/slimming-wo...d-advice-new-comers-including-extra-easy.html

Good luck - will watch for your changing your username from TryingAgain to DidIt!!!

Thank u thats really helpful

Hopefully ill get to change my name sometime lol

Hi, I've been doing EE for 28 weeks and have got into the swing with it. The most important thing is to keep the superfree intake nice and high. Keep it simple, stress now and enjoy what you are eating!

Onions and mushroom and pessata all count as super free, but they don't feel like they ought to, so I load those into lots of things.

Hi have you had a good weightloss on Extra easy?

Hi Karen - How you doing with extra easy today?? I agree with the above - just most importantly are your healthy a and healthy b... Once you've done those then you're free to eat whatever you like really.

If you're getting quite irate about syns then its def worth investing in the Food Directory off you sw consultant?? Tells you all the free stuff you can eat - branded and non branded, store cupboard staples and then your branded syns :) Its a life saver for me!!

Also dont stress so much about 'you MUST have loads of super free foods...' Because I'm not a big salad lover and I almost daily forget to put veg with my dinner but I do my meals as normal then think... Would a bit of veg go with that? Or a piece of fruit for a snack or desert...? It'll soon stick in your mind :) Any help you need just ask - we're all here to help each other xxx :)

Hi Blondee

I did extra easy yesterday for the first time or I think I did?

I was eating at work for lunch and dinner so made a big portion of wholemeal pasta a tin of tuna and some spring onions and tomatoes.

After reading a bit more Im not sure if that counts as extra easy?

x

ps I bought the food directory but its last years and I cant get to class at the moment. There are quite a lot of new foods that it doesnt include.

Be honest with yourself - did your tomatoes and spring onions make up one third of what was on your plate? By the sounds of it probably not.

Hello lovey - Sorry for the delay, I rarely check my MM's at the weekend :)

Yes you sound like you're doing things right so far - wholemeal rather than regular pasta is a good start. The tuna is excellent - I need to eat more fish too...!! The above comment is right - have you filled your plate with 1/3 salad/veg? If not ... Well what the hell, you can do it with the next plate full...!! :) Just make sure you have some fruit, veg or salad everyday and that will massively speed up your weight loss!!

Regarding the food directory - mine is last years too but it just reminds you of the free branded foods and the staples you can have for free too... I consult mine almost everyday & take it shopping with you too, dont feel silly for doing so... I've met women doing it the same as me in the aisles!! :) My OH calls it my bible ;) xxx

Sorry to butt in! I'm a bit confused and hoping you can help :)

When I make spaghetti bolognese, I use at least a third veg (onions, mushrooms, peppers, passata, chopped tomatoes, leeks, carrot etc). I've been counting that veg as my superfree if i do a one pan meal like that.

Is that counted as my superfree (if i commit to it being at least 1/3 of the meal) or does it have to be on the side e.g. side salad?

Thought I had it sussed but now feeling a bit :confused::confused:

Hopefully i don't sound tooooo stupid!

Thanks Blondee

Ive taken my directory into the supermarket too. Ive a bit of spare time later so going to plan a few meals for the week as its easy for me to get back into old habits and have a pick at something while Im trying to decide what to have for dinner, especially when I get in from work starving :)

I think for me its all about planning what I eat. Trouble is I think Im the most disorganised person Ive ever come across :) Going to spend an hour or so on here and get some meal ideas.

Hope its all going good for you x

Hi Hendopig..!! How you doing? Yes I personally would count that as the superfree third on your plate... I will attach a photo of what I've eaten tonight - it will give you an idea. But yes you're right hun -if you're putting enough veg in the spag bol then you can count that and or put a bit of salad or side veg with it anyway least then you'll feel like you've had some but really you'll have had loads :) Do you normally have a side salad or bowl of veg with your other teas? Like with chicken or steak? Xxx

I've attached a pic for you above..!! Hope it helps :) Yes plan meals hun - there are some recipes on here. Also do you buy the mag?? I love it!! I've eaten bought a few thst I've missed in the past off eBay :D The mags have some great recipes in them & always print new healthy A's & B's too which is handy!!

Yes all is good with me thankyou - the only thing I struggle with is fruit... I don't eat fruit because I don't like most fruits so it's a bit annoying because I could snack all day on it at work but instead I eat pasta mug shots & low syn crackers which is just all stodge & no good for me really :( xxx

Hi Blondie :)

Thank you for answering. I'm good thank you, you ok?

Thanks for the pic and the explanation, very helpful. I normally have a massive pile of veg with dinner. I looked on the SW website earlier at the EE menu and there's a spag Bol recipe on there that said add all these free ingredients (mostly veg) then have a superfree side salad and then I was confused!

Thanks for your help,
Stacey :)

Hi Blondee

Thanks, the pic is helpful :) I think Im starting to get the hang of extra easy but have only done it once so far as failed on it at dinner time the other day so had to change it to a green day

Im not too good with fruit either I have to make myself eat it apart from bananas and nectarines.

Ive started buying the mag again and find it really useful. When I was on the plan before about 2 yrs ago I cut some recipes out of the mags and put them in a folder... sad I know but it kept my mind off food for a couple of hours :D Got the folder out the other day and had a look. Theres nothing on extra easy as its all new to me but hoping to get to grips with it and find some extra easy recipes from somewhere.

Hope its all going well for you :) x

I dont blame you for keeping your recipes hun - I have kept mine over the years too!! :) Its nice to look back then. Well I understand you have struggled with it but the best thing to do is experiment with your foods... Stick to things you like and just count your syns. Are you doing much exercise?? xxx

Yeah the old recipes are good to look back on or when stuck for an idea or two.

Today has been the first day ive stuck to extra easy. (I think)

Had salad with with tuna and new potatoes for lunch,

Beef mash broccoli and carrots for dinner.

Breakfast was 2 poached eggs on toast but no fruit then but had an apple tonight. Hope that counts as an extra easy day.

First proper weigh in tommorow so will see if Ive tried hard enough this week:)

My sister had her baby on saturday so visited and stayed at my dads for the weekend. Had a few drinks sat night to wet the babys head but apart from that have been near enough sticking to the plan.

Hope your having a good slimming world week x

ps im not doing too much exercise at the moment, would like to do more and hope to when I get some energy. Ive got quite an active job which doesnt leave much for exercise.

Went for a 50 minute walk the other day and ached all over after :)

do you do much exercise? x

Sounds like you are sticking to easy extra now... You'll get there, like I say it takes time to adjust to something new. Just think to yourself... I can eat anything and everything. To me I do just that except I change the way I cook it. I use fry light like its going out of fashion - do you use it? I use to cook, to fry, bake, boil and grill. Its amazing!! Also aswell as eating everything just think well instead of having a bag of crisps, have half a bag (If you can!) but a bag of crisps are sometimes only 9 syns?? :)

Yes I do exercise hun... I recently went back to my 'old' gym near my work as I've gone back to SW and finding it great to be back as my Uncle comes with me and we work out together. Also I play netball for the county and train once a week and play a match once a week - though our season is finished at the mo so we're only training. Makes me feel so much better about myself!! xxx
