How do you manage...

With socialising? Epsecially now the dreaded BBQ weather is here and there is lots of yummy beer and food flowing!

Do you take your shakes/bars with you? or drink/eat before you go and then say no thanks I've eaten? Or do you tell people you are doing TS and can't eat or drink?

Depends who it is. People who know Im on the diet I take a bar and lots of water. Other people I say I've eaten earlier as I'm dieting. I also drive so no one offers me alcohol!

People just seem to be amazed when you say I can't eat anything. Like Nanna on the Royale Family.. ''not even wafer thin ham?'' No, no food means no food, full stop! Some people just don't seem to get the concept of 'meal replacement' lol

Luckily (but in a very sad way) I barely go to social events anyway, so nothing has really changed for me. I do however intend to change that once I have sorted myself out. :D

I will go to the bbq, but will try not to eat. I will therefore inform the hostess before the time of my intentions. Knowing my friends I will be the joke of the evening, but thats ok. I can take it. My dream would be to not indulge in any bbq's or whatsoever for the next 4 weeks (it is my 1st 4 weeks). Thereafter I will relax the rules a bit. Even though I cant say for sure if it will happen like this as this diet is not easy. For now it is difficult enough getting through each day. I can only try.

Its hard but it is doable honest! xx

Well - I take the shake or soup before I go. I drink fizzy water (lots). I put a bit of green salad or something on my plate, then I cover it with a serviette or bit of kitchen roll and put it under my seat. I have done this lots of times, as everyone gets drunk I say - 'that was great' Yes I have had plenty, it was lovely. Then I become the helpful guest and start clearing into black bags. I hosted a barbecue a few weeks ago and if anything it was easier - I just served food, cleared up and laughed a lot! I do feel happier these days in smaller jeans.
I don't tell anyone, its my business, my body, my choices. I certainly don't explain or offer excuses. I do what's best for me and this is it. I find it quite easy now and feel so smug when I get home. For me I just want to be slim more than anything - This is so important to me and it works and I am not hungry so no debate really.

I did this pushed about some ***** and ***** quickly pushed them onto oh's plate and stole his leftovers etc managed a sit down lunch TS with no one noticing ;)

Surely BBQ discussions shouldn't be in the TS section, just realised we are in TS so edited my post :S

You could approach it slightly differently and if its a BBQ worth going to have some meat etc

Take a cob/roll or whatever to put it in but 'lose' it somewhere. If there's some chicken, get some of that down you as well.

If in ketosis there is no harm in having something to eat so long as you keep the carbs down. The diet is a long term solution so having 500 extra cals one day from the 'right' food is not going to hurt - seriously :)

I think if having something to eat at a BBQ is an issue then you should relax for a night and enjoy it, then just pick up again the next day - still in ketosis - and get back to your normal 3 meal replacements.

The key is to not eat/drink a load of carbs and knock yourself out of ketosis.

couldn't agree more!

Remember that's not much different to add a meal week or working solution!
