What did you miss on other 'diets'?

I'm sure like me, many of us on here have tried a whole range of diet plans.
SW is different in there is nothing on the 'can't have' list! It's all about moderation and sensible choices instead.
So.....what did you miss on other diet plans?
I tried Atkins a while ago and at first it felt like food heaven! I love cheese and meat and cream so it was great at first but the novelty soon wore off and I missed fruit and all the nice veggies that were banned!
Having my lunch today of ryvitas (HexB)with dairylea(HexA) and beetroot took my mind back to the dreaded Atkins and how much I missed beetroot!! It's so good to no longer have a list of can't haves! :D

I have done 4 different diets.

No 1 was cambridge and i just couldnt stop thinking about food

No 2 was weight watchers and just didnt get it

No 3 was the special K diet and i missed my savoury breakfast and luch

No 4 was xenical and i missed eating fishes like mackeral and salmon and even eggs sometimes gave me reaction x

I did the Cambridge diet for a few months last yr. I never realised how much I loved fruit and veg. Same with the atkins i tried..Couldnt stick to it for long In the end I just picked at everything and stopped losing weight.

I loved Atkins when I did it years back, I only came off it because it cost me a fortune!! I really enjoyed it and find it a bit odd now that I'm not a fan of red days on SW!

I tried WW and missed the big portions I can have on SW, on RC years ago I missed cheese like you wouldn't believe.

On SW though, I miss bagels (too high in syns really!)

I did WW & loved it, I really didn't miss anything as you can have your points on whatever you like (or you could then), I was loosing weight & still boozing, eating pizza, peanuts, chocolate etc. I didn't like the small portions of rice & pasta though. The reason I won't go back to it is I really don't think I could cope on the amount of points I'd get when I get to target.

I'm enjoying SW this time, booze is a bit high in syns for my liking so I have only had half a lager in 3 weeks & have instead had the odd bottle of Becks Blue.

I love having cheese as a healthy A, it was so many points on WW's I used to avoid it.

I did Aitkins once and only stuck it a week as I felt so sick, lightheaded and shaky the wholetime. I genuinely didn't enjoy any of the benefits of Aitkins as I couldn't enjoy unlimited meat and cheese without my favourite carbs to go with them.

I did slimfast and just really missed being able to chew something as a drink did not feel like a meal at all. I also missed being able to have something hot if I felt like it, as a cold milkshake on a winter's day just doesn't feel that nice.

I did slimming world red/green days a few years ago. I got on pretty well but found them a struggle at times. I found it tough sometimes when the healthy extras were not sufficent to match the free foods - its great having unlimited potato on a green day, but having a tiny portion on tuna to go with it made it not as great. I also resented very much that rice was not a healthy extra on red, meaning I couldn't have my favourite chicken curry.

I'm doing extra easy now and love it. Only thing I ever miss is occassionally not being able to have more healthy extras, like cheese and my milk allowance, or cereal and some bread later. But overall, it is definately the diet I have taken to the best

Yes, I felt wierd on Atkins too. The weight came off but the horrible sicky feeling....yuk!

I don't actually even remember if my weight loss was any good, I was on it for such a short time! I also believe strongly that any diet that makes you obsessed with food cannot be good. On Aitkins, I literally thought about food all day, craving carbs so badly and unable to concentrate properly as all I could do was imagine eating a bowl of pasta or piece of toast. With SW, I get my cravings but otherwise eat normally and enjoy my meals. Food doesn't dominate my day or control my life like it did with Aitkins or Slimfast.

oh gosh, I think about food all the time on SW! What I'm eating for lunch/dinner the next day, how many syns I've got left, what I can eat when I go out, whether I have the willpower to resist starbucks/costa when I go into town!
I love food and constantly think about it. Not good really!

Oh yeah, me too! But when I'm on SW I find I'm looking forward to what I can have rather than obsessing about what I can't!

When I go t my target last week people asked was I going to have a blow out, that there must have been something I have wanted while doing sw that I was going to treat myself to but as mentioned SW is not about what you can't have but everything in moderation. So I have had some of most things I have wanted along the way but just planned for it and not had it on top of everything else.
If I was to have a blow out and go mad it could lead to very bad habits again so don't want to if I can help it!
I've not tried many other diets I was lucky enough to find sw not too long after I decided to do something about my weight.

Well done Emsie! I think you've just proved it's all about reeducating our eating habits. Deprivation never works, moderation does!

I've been on 3 other diets

Atkins: Did this for a week and it was okay but I used to fantasise about porridge, of all things. When I came off after the week my "blow out" was a bowl of porridge with honey! I only lost 2lbs too lol! I joined SW the next week and lost 5lbs my first week!

WW: This is my second favourite "diet" but I don't like weighing and measuring so it never really works long term for me.

Cambridge: Did this for my wedding and lost a lot of weight in the blink of an eye but I felt like an infant on formula and I was OBSESSED with food. Its sooo unhealthy though and I will never attempt it again. The things we do to fit in a dress!

Atkins: did well on it but was veggie at the time so got bored.

WW: was hungry, tiny portions of pasta, couldn't "afford" cheese. Just miserable.
