A very serious question. Birthday cake.

Monkey_Monkey_Underpants

Not quite normal
So, yes. Birthday cake.

Now I know, for absolutely certain, that, on your birthday, cake is syn free.

That's a well known fact.
It must be in the book somewhere, in the small print - it's just that you can never find it when you look.
But that doesn't matter. It's a fact.
That's that.

So - that's taken as read.
But my question is:

Is it because Birthday cake is syn free?
Or is it just that there are no syns when it's actually your birthday?

It's a very important distinction, because if it's the former, then there are no syns even when you eat someone else's birthday cake.
But if it's the latter, then other people's cake is dangerous.

Does anyone else know?
What's the official line?

I need to know, pretty urgently, because I had to make a cake for someone's birthday today, and I REALLY want some!

I'm pretty sure it's the latter, I'm afraid.
However, I did hear somewhere that if YOU make the birthday cake, a very small slither of it remains syn free. You may need to check that though.

Well, you see, I checked the recipe very carefully, and at no point did it say "add syns" - so I didn't put any in!
Or calories.
It didn't mention them in the list of ingredients.
So there can't be any in there, can there?

Come to think of it, I never see any cake recipe with "syns" in the ingredients - birthday or otherwise.
Hmm.... got me thinking now!

Now come on.....as long as you get enough superfree with that it's fine...me I would go for lots of greens, Wine gums or Jelly babies.

Oh and anything you eat from someone elses plate is free, as it's not your plate!

It's syn free, but only if you remove the candles before eating.
Enjoy :)

I can confirm, cos I am the eldest, so therefore know the most, that that is true.........surely you knew that lol.

Logical my dear Watson........no one could argue with that.

No, no !!!! Please read the above , she did not add any syns so it is all free.
I thought that it was only syn free if you ate it whilst smiling !!!

That too is true.

Once again true. The super food green wine gums do the trick every time.

Right now we have rewritten the rule book, you are on maintenance , skinny, minny, that you can afford to eat a huge chunk.................... enjoy it. hugs xxxx

If its true that cake you make yourself is syn free, then Im off to make a tray of cupcakes....

Just have some. If you havent already. You have to test it, to make sure its not poisoned. And prove to everyone else it isnt.

Oh I did. It was very nice.

And I couldn't taste any syns, so I think it must have been ok!

And anyone with experience can detect the bitter after taste of syns.

Class thread!!!!!!!!

Now this is a very interesting thread!

It was my birthday yesterday ... so obviously the lovely lemon drizzle cake my 13 yr old daughter made me was syn free.

Today I took some cakes into work. Co-Op Truly Irrestible ones. The choc cakes were 185 cals ... the carrot cakes were 185 cals ... the lemon cakes were 300 cals  Guess who didn't realise this until AFTER she had eaten them

However, following the above rules I'm guessing that this too might be syn free

Love it!
