disappointing losses??

something has just occurred to me and im interested in others opinions...in the past i have joined (several times) slimming world and weightwatchers and have failed miserably, one pound off,two on,three on,two off etc etc...my problem is what it does to me mentally to feel like ive stuck to something for a week then go only to discover ive lost a measly pound or MAINTAINED!! its silly cus up until the weigh in i would feel so positive and focused and within moments those numbers on the scales make it all come crashing down and i would want to eat to make myself feel better (ridiculas i know!!)
My question is this...im hoping for good weightloss doing lipotrim and i see that it varies from person to person a great deal,im scared that if i go one week (especially for my first weigh-in) and dont see the results i want to see, what is it going to do to me mentally,im worried that i will cave in...does anyone have any advice on this?? Im sticking to it 100% and am drinking 4 litres of water a day,if i only lose a few pounds i actually will be gutted and im worried i will lose my motivation (im soooo impatient!!!) :)

It depends a lot on what expectations you have. A lot of people post on the VLCD forums that theyre disappointed with their losses when in actual fact their losses are exactly what they should be.

How much are you hoping to lose? What would YOU class as a demotivating loss

Thanks for your reply :) well as i understand it lipotrim will bring good losses if you stick to it 100%,ive never done an entire food replacement programme before so i hope to lose more than the 2lbs a week i would lose on a regular diet..i see that on average on the first week people lose between 7-14lbs then after that it slows down, but for some ppl a lot more than others..im worried that feeling this is a very extreme way to lose weight (and hard) and a weightloss of only a couple of pounds one week will throw my motivation as it has done soooo many times before, perhaps i need to be a little stronger and stop thinking of what could go wrong and just get on with it!!! (i do think too much sometimes lol)

Youll probably have a great loss in week one. After that it does vary, you might get the occasional week where you only lose maybe 2lbs but you need to remember thats the exception not the rule, thats the low end of the scale, on WW/SW 2lbs is the upper end of the scale.

Youll average 3/4lbs a week, and for every bad week you have youll have half a dozen great ones. IF you do have a bad week, ignore it and look at the loss youve had over the past 4 weeks before it, thatll put it into perspective I assure you ;)

Hi Pretty Lady! I think your worries are totally understandable but self-sabotaging! I agree with everything Starlight has said. To stick to this diet you have to have mental strength more than physical! Many times I look wistfully at the losses of others and think, why are they losing 5lbs or so each week when I plod along with 3lbs? I know that I have been 100% all the time and drink the right amount of water so what am I doing wrong?! The point is, I'm doing great really. The expected loss is roughly a stone a month and that's what I'm achieving: I've lost 4 and a half stone in 16 weeks. If you look at my stats you see a few low losses but if you average out 64lbs in 16 weeks that's 4lbs a week which is the best sustained loss I've ever had on a diet! I also think my body feels great about this cos I feel so healthy and energetic at the mo and I haven't really got any wrinkly, saggy bits yet, which I might have got if I lost it any faster? :D

Thankyou for your responses i know you are right,i am my own worst enemy at times,i just get worried that i will do what ive always done and quit, but having you to get support from is a help for sure so i think i may well be spending quite a lot of time on here :) you are all doing so well and i cant wait to ba able to feel proud of myself for achieving the same :) xx

Hi

I'm a bit like you, last week I wasn't very happy with my loss after 1st 2 weeks. But then I looked at how much I lost in total in 3 weeks and it was great.

The best thing about this diet is that if you stick to it 100% you will lose. I'm starting to get my head round the fact that any loss is good and it all adds up

Keep at it x

Keep at it 100% and drink plenty of water. Hope fully you'll lose a stone a month That's the average loss I see here. You can't get that much on Any other diet out there!

Weigh yourself first week and then maybe try not to look at your record card for next couple of weeks at the weigh-in? Once you have completed a month then see your actual weight loss and you will be amazed even if you have had 1 low week? This is only a suggestion but reading your thread it all comes down to the scales so dont look and advise the pharmacist etc to not read out the reading. Im sure you will think you couldnt possibly be able to not sneak a peek but im pretty sure if you have the willpower to do LT 100% then not looking at your weight losses will be a doddle until the end of the month!!!!!

Thankyou everyone,im on day 4 (weigh in day is monday but only will have done 6 days as my day one was tuesday) i need to jus focus on how i FEEL i think and as you say just stick with it!!!

So far so good tho,am cooking my kids dinner and it really doesnt bother me,at night i have had moments where i fancied something but i CANT have anything so the problem is solved straight away :) have been drinking 4 litres of water a day, tonight and tomorrow night i would usually have wine (another little bad habit which im looking forward to nipping in the bud) so i may well be posting on here later as im a little apprehensive about it :/

Onwards and upwards :)

xx

Also the thing with this type of diet is if you have what you would class as a 'low' week one week the next is generally a bigger loss to compensate. IE... 2lbs then next week 4 or maybe 5? Just a general example but hope it helps. :)

i just want to echo what all the other great posters have said and wish you good luck

In agreement with all the above and so really good comments for you there prettylady.

Remember the first week we do tend to lose water as well, and loses sometimes depends on how much weight you have to lose overall as well.

I don't even consider this LT a diet to be honest, I view it as a life choice to re-programme my eating habits. And in order to do that I have to stop eating for a while and just take my 'fat medicine'.

When I have reached goal I will then be on a diet of healthy eating and that is such a positive place to get too. A stone a month is average and you just need to be happy with that - keep it simple!

Another good prompt is if you enter your details on your profile and start to see your BMI going down....sometimes we forget that LT is not just about not eating, but it is making a choice to be healthier, live longer and get control of our lives.

Remember some of that and it will take the focus off of the weight loss.

Nobody could have put it better then that :D

Some great advice, wish i'd of said something similar when i started out 4 weeks ago as i am one of those with low results compaired to everyone else and i quickly got disheartened.

But, after a blip, i did manage to lose the stone in a month and am now on week 5 and 100% sticking to it.

This diet cannot fail if it is stuck too. Ignore negative comments about it and think how happy you will be slimmer.

Something that helped me immensely was taking my measurements. One week i lost 1.5lb but had lost inches from all over.

Good luck.
Jo
